Amazing Race September 30 Eliminated Zach And Nate In Premiere Episode (Recap)
Earlier tonight, September 30, 2026, CBS aired the very first, premiere episode for The Amazing Race’s new season 39, and one unlucky team did get eliminated at the end of it.
Tonight’s new episode kicked off with the introductions of the new teams. Then, host Phil Keoghan let each of the 13 teams know that they were all given one express pass that they can use to skip a challenge without incurring any time penalties.
It was explained that these express passes are only good up until the 6th leg, whenever that is. The important thing to note here is that they do have a finite amount of time to use the express pass. So, they can’t just hold onto it forever.
After all of that, the teams were told to go to BC Place to get their very first clue for this leg of the race and season. When they got there, they were hit with a Road Block challenge. They had to repel from up high at the BC Place stadium and grab a toy salmon at the same time to get their next clue.
Erin and Javi used their express pass to skip the BC Place challenge. Erin said they were already too behind and just wanted to make sure they could keep up. They were told to go to the Plaza of Nations dock to get their next clue. The other teams who finished up the BC Place Road Block challenge had to do that as well.
When they got to the Plaza Of Nations dock, they had to find an aqua bus and ride it to get their next clue. When they got it, they were hit with their detours. They got to chose to do either the “Run it up” or “Paddle Out” detour. Dafina & Saran used their express pass to skip the detours.
In the “Run It Up” detour, the teams had to collect the correct flags and put them in the correct order to get their next clue. In the “Paddle Out” detour, the teams had to jump in a canoe and paddle as fast as they could through the water to reach a buoy that had their next clue attached to it.
After the teams successfully completed whichever detour they picked, they were told to go to the Vandusen Botanical Garden, which was the pit stop for this leg of the race.
Erin and Havi reached the pit stop in first place and won a 6-day trip for two to Turkey from Expedia. Connor & Garret finished in 2nd place. Michelle & Matthew took 3rd place. Katie & Charlotte claimed the 4th spot. Doug & Dylan came in 5th.
Andrea & Anuar took 6th place. Ann Marie & Riley came in 7th. Jody & Jenn took 8th. Dafina & Saran finished 9th. Ali & Joanna came in 10th. Cody and Jaime took 11. Daisha & Dalton took the very important 12th spot to just barely escape elimination. Zach and Nate finished last, and Phil did confirm that they were eliminated for it.
Nate & Zach told the private cams, “It sucks, but we did everything the best we could. It still felt good. We finished strong.” That is a wrap for this latest, “The Amazing Race” TV show, recap report, but definitely stay tuned for more.
