New ‘Incredible Burt Wonderstone’ Movie Delivered Great Comedy And Pretty Good Storyline
New ‘Incredible Burt Wonderstone’ movie delivered great comedy and pretty good storyline. New Line Cinema (Warner Bros.) released their new comedy flick, “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out,and thought it was very entertaining and served up a better storyline than I thought it would. It stars: Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini, Jim Carrey, Jay Mohr, and Michael Bully Herbig.
In the new flick ,characters Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carell) and Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi) grew up to become a successful magic act in Las Vegas. However, their act starts to loose interest and ticket sales when the new, popular, street magician, Steve Gray (Jim Carrey), shows up on the scene with his new brand of shocking and dangerous magic that seems to captivate audiences beyond belief.
In an effort to compete, Burt and Anton try to perform a hotbox act where they stay in a box in the sun for a week. It ends up ,going terribly wrong when Burt can’t hang in there, causing a huge fallout between Burt and Anton that results in an end to their partnership.
From there, Burt loses his Vegas job and has to resort to performing tricks at an old folks/retirement home. While there, Burt runs into the man who inspired him to do magic in the first place, “Rance Holloway.” As the movie rolls along, Rance helped Burt rediscover his passion for performing magic and the reason why he started it in the first place.
The two go on to perform magic together, and Burt also learns to become more humble and less of a jerk. Then Anton eventually returns to join his old pal to rekindle their partnership. Burt also gets great encouragement from his beautiful assistant Jane (Olivia Wilde).
Eventually, Burt’s old Vegas show boss, Doug Munny, gives him a call about a magic gig, which eventually has Burt enter a magic contest that came with a grand prize of headlining Doug Munny’s new Vegas shows at his new hotel. This sets up a great conclusion where Burt and Anton perform their greatest magic trick yet to claim their new high paying, Vegas, gig.
Again, I thought the movie was highly entertaining as it served up a lot of great comedy and a highly dramatic storyline. It sort of delivered up this sort of under dog situation where you wanted Burt to come back and take out the seemingly unbeatable street magician that had previously stolen Burt’s thunder.
I thought both Carell and Carrey did a great job with their characters as they were both really, really funny. I gave the flick a solid B+ grade. Follow us on Twitter by Clicking Here. Follow us on Facebook by Clicking Here. Follow us on Tumblr by Clicking Here.
