New Noah Movie Delivered Great Action,Drama,Questionable Plotline & More
Paramount Pictures released their new action/drama flick, “Noah” Into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was quite entertaining, serving up plenty of intense drama, action, and more. However, the plotline was pretty questionable when compared to the Biblical scripture version, but I guess a little deviation should always be expected. This was pretty radical, though. The movie stars: Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins, Logan Lerman, and Nick Nolte.
In the new flick, the plotline claims that the fallen angels, now called Watchers, helped the bloodline of Cain, build an entire community and city. Then we see a young Noah, hiding, and watching his father get killed by a young king named Tubal-Cain. In response, Noah runs off. Then the movie fast-forwards to show Noah (Russell Crowe) all grown up with a wife named, Naameh and three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Eventually, Noah starts having visions of a people drowning in water, and he’s in the midst of them, drowning with them. He interprets it as a vision from the creator aka God that he will destroy the Earth. From there, the plotline unfolds with Noah getting help from the left over fallen Angels to build the great Ark that would allow them to survive this great flood that’s coming.
As they started to build the ark, all the animals of the Earth, started showing up out of nowhere to board the ark. Unfortunately, the murderer, Tubal-Cain, shows up to threaten to take Noah’s ark, but is thwarted by the giant fallen angels/watchers.
However, when the rains started coming, Tubal-Cain made one last effort to try to overcome the fallen Angels with his huge army and take over Noah’s ark. Fortunately, his efforts failed as the fallen angles, coupled with the effects of the great flood, wiped all his men clean out. From there, we saw a sub-plotline where Emma Watson’s character ,Ila, gets preggers by Noah’s son, Shem.
Noah believes God wants all men wiped from the Earth, so he threatens to kill Ila’s baby if it’s a girl. This raised huge conflict on the ark, and eventually led to a huge, intense showdown/fight. But a change of heart or thinking from Noah, resulted in a happy ending of sorts.
Again, I thought the movie was very entertaining with all the heavy drama and action, but I wasn’t really too fond of the plotline, since I had never seen the story of Noah be told quite that way with all the intense sub-plot elements. But on the other hand, it doesn’t surprise me that they would do something like that, because that’s what they always seem to do with these types of films for entertainment purposes, I guess.
Anyways, I gave the movie a solid B- grade. Stay tuned. Also, get your favorite Movie stuff, and more by Clicking Here.
