New Amazing Spider Man 2 Movie Delivered Great Action,Special Effects,Drama & More
Columbia Pictures (Sony) released their new “Amazing Spider Man 2” super hero/action flick into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it phenomenal. It was jam-packed with a ton of action, drama, suspense, special affects, and more. It stars: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field, and B.J. Novak.
In the new flick, we see Spiderman aka Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) ,slinging webs through the city, once again, fighting crime and rescuing people, left and right. However, the main plot in this particular scenario, was to capture Aleksei Sytsevich, who attempted to steal a truck containing plutonium vials. During the chase, Spider-Man rescues OsCorp Industries employee ,Max Dillon aka Electro (Jamie Foxx).
We also see Peter’s childhood friend ,Harry Osborn, arrive on the scene to visit his terminally ill father Norman, CEO of OsCorp. Norman tells Harry his illness is hereditary, and that Harry is at the age where it first develops. Norman gives Harry a small device he claims contains his life’s work.
Meanwhile, Max eventually loses his balance and falls into a tank of genetically modified electric eels while doing some maintenance in an OsCorp laboratory. Peter also has issues with Gwen Stacy as he’s in constant conflict with keeping her father’s promise to stay away from her, but he somehow, keeps getting drawn back to her.
As the movie rolls along, Max shows back up on the scene as Electro in the middle of Times Square. Spiderman tries to calm him down, but things go very wrong as Max loses control of his powers and his temper, causing him to go after Spiderman. However, Electro’s power is temporarily watered down by Spiderman and the Fire department, allowing Electro to be captured and taken back to the Ravencroft Institute for further studying. In other words, imprisonment.
Harry eventually finds out that Spider-Man’s blood could help save him, since it’s what helped Spiderman become superhuman. However, Spiderman refuses to give Harry his blood, claiming that it might kill him, but hot tempered Harry refuses to accept his reasoning and turns to Electro instead.
He uses Electro to help him bust back into Oscorp to get his hands on the original spider venom after getting fired from Oscorp. In exchange, Harry helped Electro do what he needed to do to go after Spiderman. Then we saw that the spider venom didn’t help Harry at all, but instead, turned him into a hideous Green Goblin creature.
All these events set up a huge conclusion that involved a double villain takedown as Spiderman had to take out both Electro and the Green Goblin. After much wreckage and hardcore action, Spiderman came out standing but not without the sacrifice of a very important life.
Again, I thought the movie was highly entertaining and interesting for the entire run time. I thought Jamie Fox did a great job as Electro. It was quite an intense performance. There was a lot of great humor with Spiderman, and Andrew Garfield does a great job with that. I gave the movie a solid B+ grade. Stay tuned.
