American Idol Eliminated Laci Kaye Booth & Wade Cota Tonight, May 12, 2019

Tonight, May 12, 2019, the remaining final 5, American Idol contestants did indeed hit the stage to do another set of performances for America’s vote. And unfortunately, two of them just did not make the cut. They performed three song tonight. Since there’s less people in the competition, they had enough time to do so. Of course, all the judges: Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan were on hand.

Wade Cota was the first performer of the night. He sang, “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne. Afterwards, Katy said, “I’m so happy that contestants are pushed past their comfort zones. You met that challenge. I want you to let go even more.” Luke said, “I like that you didn’t over do it. You were very easy to listen to.” Lionel said, “Just enjoy this ride. Relax a little.”

Next, Laci Kaye Booth hit the stage to sing, “The House that Built Me” by Miranda Lambert. Afterwards, Luke told Laci, “I’m glad I saved you. You give us soul. You give us style, grace and beauty. I think it’s your best.” Lionel said, “That song fit you perfectly. Keep focused on what you are about.” Katy said, “Keep turning it up a notch. You just took so many changes with your vocals. Take more chances.”

After all that, Alejandro Aranda took over the stage to sing, “No Woman No Cry” by Bob Marley and the Wailers. Afterwards, Lionel told Alejandro, “You understand what it is to be an artist. You have taken a Bob Marley song and turned it into an Alejandro song.” Katy said, ” I think I saw you step into the power in real time. I think you’re finally taking yourself seriously.” Luke said, “You commanded that vocal. You are going to change music.”

Next, Laine Hardy hit the stage to sing, “Can’t You See” by the Marshall Tucker Band. Afterwards, Katy told Laine, “Let’s pretend that you don’t win this show. I want to see you fight even more. Your guitar is your girlfriend. Treat her good.” Luke said, “I like the band arrangement.” Lionel said, “Give us attitude.”

Madison VanDenburg arrived on stage next. She performed, “What About Us” by Pink. Afterwards, Luke told Madison, “You interacted with the audience more. Keep digging.” Lionel said, “You’re 17 and ready for showtime.” Katy said, “It’s happening to you right now. What you showed us at the end of that song was some crazy musical talent. Bring it out in the first 30 seconds.”

Next, the final 5 sang songs by musical legend, Elton John. Elton was also nice enough to tape a special message for the top 5 singers.

Wade Cota started off things again by singing, “Rocket Man.” Afterwards, Lionel told Wade,”You’re doing something right and perfect. I like that you took on a character.” Katy said, “I like your characters too. You’re hilarious. I felt you were connected in the first part of the song.” Luke said, “Even your whisper is believable.”

Next, Laci Kaye Booth hit the stage to sing, “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.” Afterwards, Katy said, “You keep bringing every girl out. You’re a pop star!” Luke said, “I liked that you moved around and worked the crowd.” Lionel said, “You killed it. You turned it into your song.”

At this point, it was Alejandro Aranda’s turn again. He sang, “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.” He sat behind the piano for this one. Afterwards, Luke said, “I wonder if you held back. Wrap your head around being a ginormous star.” Lionel said, “You killed that. You are taking us on a journey. The art of your artistry is so beautiful.” Katy said, “Music comforted me growing up. I feel sad, but I feel so connected to that.”

Madison VanDenburg hit the stage next to sing, “Your Song.” Afterwards, Lionel told Madison,”That song got me into the songwriting business. You are coming to this competition with a bat to knock everybody out!” Katy said, “You just gave us the ketchup and the mustard. You keep singing like that.” Luke said, “Your voice is soulful and rangy. How do we have this talent in front of us?”

Next, Laine Hardy arrived on stage for his second performance. He sang, “Something About the Way You Look Tonight.” Afterwards, Katy told Laine that his vocal coach lessons are working stating, “It really shows. It’s paying off.” Luke said, “We heard you singing tonight. I compare you to Frankie Valli in Grease.” Lionel said, “I like your style. You’re a a winner.”

At this point, the top 5 sang their last songs of the night. Wage Cota started things off again by singing, “Hard Luck Woman” by KISS. Afterwards, Luke told Wade, “It was an amazing tribute.” Lionel said, “You were born enough. Recognize that power inside of you and go forward.” Katy said, “I’m so proud of you. It’s just the beginning for you.”

Laci Kaye Booth hit the stage next to sing, “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. Afterwards, Lionel told Laci, “I think you’re coming back stronger than ever.” Katy said, “I’m a mess right now. I feel like everyone’s mom! We love every single one of these contestants.” Luke said, “It was a complete visual into the future of your career.”

Next up, was Madison VanDenburg. She sang, “Make You Feel Me Love” by Bob Dylan/Adele. Afterwards, Katy told Madison, “The emotion is so real. You were so elegant and timeless.” Luke said, “Power House.” Lionel said, “Vote, vote, vote.”

Next, it was Laine Hardy’s turn again. He sang, “Hey Jude” by The Beatles. Afterwards, Lionel said, “vote” again. Katy said, “Your performance was super cool. You’ve got this. I thank you for coming back.”

Finally, Alejandro Aranda wrapped up the performances by singing an original song called,”Blesser.” Afterwards, Lionel told Alejandro, “We are watching a phenomenon. We are watching musical history. Vote, vote, vote.” Katy said, “Stay humble homie.” Luke said, “I am not worthy. I will champion you as much as I can.”

After that, host Ryan Seacrest got right down to business by revealing that Laine Hardy, Madison VanDenberg and Alejandro Aranda were all safe this week, and are this years top 3 contestants! Unfortunately, that also meant that poor Laci Kaye Booth and Wade Cota were eliminated.
