Grey’s Anatomy Season 17, June 3, 2021 Episode 17 Is The Finale. Season 18 Is Happening
Hey, “Grey’s Anatomy” fans. It’s that time of the year again. We are back on here to announce some very important, season-ending news for Grey’s Anatomy. That’s right, guys. For those of you who did not get the memo yet, tonight’s episode 17 is indeed the season finale episode for Grey’s Anatomy’s current season 17.
We think that Grey’s Anatomy didn’t get their usual, full, 22-24 episode season this year because of the problems with the terrible pandemic.
Whatever the case, the good news is that tonight’s episode 17 will certainly not be the last episode you’ll ever see of Grey’s Anatomy because ABC has officially renewed Grey’s Anatomy to deliver a new set of season 18 episodes for you guys!
That’s right, guys. You can totally expect the Grey’s Anatomy series to keep entertaining you throughout the new 2021/2022 season.
At this point in time, we’re not sure when the new season 18 will debut or how many episodes it will feature. Hopefully, things will get back to normal enough over this summer for the Grey’s Anatomy cast and crew to get back to filming a full, 22-24 episode season. We’ll have to wait and see what ABC announces later on this summer in regards to that.
The folks over at ABC.com reported this terrific Grey’s Anatomy, season 18 renewal news back in early May 2021.
During the announcement, the President of ABC Entertainment Craig Erwich and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff had some wonderful statements to share in regards to Grey’s Anatomy, it’s spin-off show Station 19 and the cast and crew.
Graig said, “‘Station 19’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ have done an incredible job of honoring real-life heroes by giving audiences an unflinching look at one of the biggest medical stories of our time. Krista and her team of writers have continued to deliver the compelling and compassionate storytelling that is a hallmark of these shows, and they created some of the year’s most-talked-about moments in television.
We’re so grateful to our talented casts and crews for their extraordinary work that connects with viewers everywhere, and we look forward to sharing even more defining moments with our fans next season.”
Krista chimed in with the following statement, “The writers, directors, casts and crews of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Station 19’ worked so hard to bring these shows to life this past season. Keeping each other safe on set while paying tribute to the front-line heroes and first responders has been a challenge and a privilege.
I’ve been truly blown away – particularly by our tireless crews – as they reinvented the TV-making wheel. Thank you to ABC and ABC Signature for the support and extraordinary partnership through this unprecedented season. We are so grateful for the opportunity to tell more stories.”
Grey’s Anatomy season 17 averaged 5.192 million LIVE viewers per episode and a 1.03 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 16, which aired last Thursday night,May 27, 2021, drew in 4.328 million LIVE viewers and a 0.71 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was episode 3 with 5.958 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 16 with 4.328 million LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episodes were episodes 1 and 2. They both tied for first place with a 1.35 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 16 with a 0.71 ratings score.
