Dancing With The Stars September 27, 2023 Eliminated Matt Walsh & Koko (Recap)

Hey, “Dancing With The Stars” fans. Tonight, September 26, 2023, the premiere episode 1 of Dancing With The Stars’ current season 32 did indeed hit the air tonight with judges: Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli, and we saw the first, unlucky couple get eliminated at the very end of it.

Tonight’s premiere episode 1 kicked off with Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy serving up a Cha Cha number. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “You’re fun, like a wild stallion, with charisma and the It factor, but you lost your timing just a hair.” Derek said, “You have so much personality and beautiful long limbs that need to be more contained and well placed.” Bruno said, “This was a great performance. You’re natural, but you need to work on your hip action. Your potential is enormous!”

Carrie Ann gave Xochitl and Val a 6 score, Derek a 6, Bruno a 6 for a total of 18 points out of a possible 30 points.

Barry Williams and Peta Murgatroyd performed a Foxtrot routine. Afterwards, Derek said, It’s crazy over how effortless it looked. It was fun to watch, and it warmed my heart.” Bruno said, “This was a foxtrot with a sunny disposition. There were a couple of mistakes, and it should have been smoother and gliding instead of bouncing up and down.” Carrie Ann said, “I was thoroughly impressed. You have good posture and form. It was fantastic.”

Carrie Ann gave Barry and Peta a 6 score, Derek a 5, Bruno a 5 for total of 16 points.

Tyson Beckford and Jenna Johnson danced a Cha Cha number. Afterwards, Bruno said, “You lost the timing and there were too many improper heel leads.” Carrie Ann said, “You’re heavy when you step, but you have lots of potential.” Derek said, “I appreciated the James Brown split and the moonwalk. You need to work on your technique. It was too flatfooted.”

Carrie Ann gave Tyson and Jenna a 4 score, Derek a 4, Bruno a 4 for a total of 12 points.

Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber delivered a Salsa routine. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “I want you to embody the sensual woman in there instead of being so cute.” Derek said, “I loved watching this dance because of your joy, but your timing was off. Your personality was off the charts though.” Bruno said, “Your timing is important, and you have to do the steps on the beat.”

Carrie Ann gave Alyson and Sasha a 5 score, Derek a 4, Bruno a 4 for a total of 13 points.

Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold danced a Cha Cha number. Afterwards, Derek said, “You had moments where you were too timid. You need to commit more to those moments.” Bruno said, “That was well done for your first time, but you need to work on your technique.” Carrie Ann said, “You need to raise your eyes and present yourself more.”

Carrie Ann gave Harry and Rylee a 4 score, Derek a 4, Bruno a 4 for a total of 12 points.

Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach performed a Cha Cha number. Afterwards, Bruno said, “You’re a dancer. You had good foot placement and leg placement.” Carrie Ann said, “This was the best dance of the night so far.” Derek said, “This routine was spot-on, and being a musician helped because you were so in the pocket.”

Carrie Ann gave Jason and Daniella a 7 score, Derek a 7, Bruno a 7 for a total of 21 points.

Jamie Lynn Spears and Alan Bersten delivered a Tango dance. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “This dance felt a little forced instead of the proper tension of a tango.” Derek said, “I think you’re better than you think you are.” Bruno said, “There were a lot of mistakes, but that’s because there was a lot of content. You need to work on your strength in the core.”

Carrie Ann gave Jamie Lynn and Alan a 5 score, Derek a 5, Bruno a 5 for a total of 15 points.

Adrian Peterson and Britt Stewart danced a Salsa number. Afterwards, Derek said, “The salsa was too hard. There was not enough rhythm to it.” Bruno said, “I like how you went for it with total commitment, but there were mishaps in the footwork, and you need to loosen up a little more.” Carrie Ann said, “You have swagger like Emmitt Smith did, but your footwork needs less stomping and more refinement.”

Carrie Ann gave Adrian and Britt a 6 score, Derek a 6, Bruno a 6 for a total of 18 points.

Lele Pons and Brandon Armstrong did a Tango dance. Afterwards, Bruno said, “I loved the way you attacked it. You have passion, but you wobbled in your turns.” Carrie Ann said, “You’re a powerful woman on the dance floor. Brandon needs to power up to match you, but there’s something special there.” Derek said, “This performance was strong and fantastic, but you do need to watch her turns.”

Carrie Ann gave Lele and Brandon a 6 score, Derek a 7, Bruno a 6 for a total of 19 points.

Mira Sorvino and Gleb Savchenko delivered a Cha Cha performance. Afterwards, Carrie said, “Len would have loved this. You were elegant and refined, but there was a mishap at the beginning.” Derek said, “I could see you thinking throughout. You have the ability, and you should trust it.” Bruno said, “You’ve got it. Don’t doubt yourself. You have good placement.”

Carrie Ann gave Mira and Gleb a 6 score, Derek a 5, Bruno a 6 for a total of 17 points.

Mauricio Umansky and Emma Slater danced a Jive number. Afterwards, Derek said, “I appreciated all the recognizable jive. This was a great first dance.” Bruno said, “This performance was confident and enthusiastic, but you need to work on sharpening your kicks and flicks.” Carrie Ann said, “I was impressed. This wasn’t what I expected from you. You know how to partner with Emma, but you need to enunciate your movements better.”

Carrie Ann gave Mauricio and Emma a 5 score, Derek a 5, Bruno a 5 for a total of 15 points.

Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvintsev danced a Tango number. Afterwards, Bruno said, “Your execution for week one was superb with great staccato movements.” Carrie Ann said, “It was stunning, elegant, lines were amazing, but you need to work on your performance.” Derek said, “It was beautiful, precise and elegant, but you need to perform more.”

Carrie Ann gave Charity a 7 score, Derek a 7, Bruno an 8 for a total of 22 points.

Matt Walsh and Koko Iwasaki served up a Cha Cha routine. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “It needed a lot of work, but it was fun to watch.” Derek said, ” It was a pretty good strategy. I almost forgot to watch the dance.” Bruno said, “It was surreal and entertaining.”

Carrie Ann Matt and Koko a 4 score, Derek a 4, Bruno a 4 for a total of 12 points.

Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov capped off the performances with a Tango routine. Afterwards, Derek said, “This routine was incredible. It had power, beautiful frame, but some foot problems.” Bruno said, “This was red hot, focused, sharp and totally committed, but you wobbled on the spin.” Carrie Ann said, “You showed America how to handle a cheater.” That was in reference to Ariana getting cheated on.

Carrie Ann gave Ariana a 7 score, Derek a 7, Bruno a 7 for a total of 21 points.

Next, they revealed that all the couples were safe this week except for Mauricio Umansky & Emma Slater and Matt Walsh and Koko Iwasaki. They landed in the bottom two of America’s LIVE vote tonight, and Matt & Koko got the least amount of votes. So, they were eliminated.
