Survivor October 18, 2023 Voted Off Sean Edwards (Recap)

Hey, “Survivor” fans. Tonight, October 18, 2023, another new episode of Survivor’s current season 45 did indeed hit the air, and we saw another contestant get voted off actually by request at the very end of it.

Tonight’s new episode kicked off with footage of the Lulu tribe after their most recent tribal council meeting, which sent Sabiyah packing in a blindside. Kaleb and Emily were seen apologizing to Sean for blindsiding of Sabiyah. Sean told them, “I just hope you see a path forward with me.” Sean told Kaleb, “It was not my idea to try and vote you out.” He tried to lay all the blame on Sabiyah.

After all of that, host Jeff Probst showed up to announce that they are switching tribes. So, Sean switched to the Reba tribe. Kaleb stayed on Lulu and was joined by a new group of people who switched over to it. Emily went to the Belo tribe.

At Lulu, Bruce told the private cams he had a problem with Katurah because she wanted Kaleb to explain what he heard from Brandon about what happened during the boat ride twist instead of Bruce. Bruce felt like that implied that Katura didn’t really trust him. Bruce told the private cams, “That was the last straw for Katurah. Elsewhere, Kaleb had a good talk with Jake. Jake told Kaleb that he was going to look out for him moving forward.

At the Belo camp, Emily tried to fit in with her new tribe members. She told them what went down with Sabiyah during the tribal council vote that sent her home. Drew told the private cams that Emily seems pretty nice. He also mentioned that he wants to get Emily on his side.

At the Reba camp, Sean tried to make new connections with his new tribe members. J told the private cams that she likes Sean. Dee told the private cams that she likes Sean too. They went through Sean’s bag when he wasn’t looking to see if he had a hidden immunity idol, and they didn’t find anything. J and Sean talked again ,and they seemed to form a good connection. J went back and told Dee and Julie that she wants to blindside Sifu. Julie told the private cams that she would just rather stay Reba strong and get rid of Sean, but he does bring good energy.

At the Belo camp, Austin told the private cams Emily cannot be the first one voted off since their recent switch. “We need her to be the perfect middle spot for us.” Drew and Austin told Emily that they could be an alliance moving forward. Emily was overjoyed about it and gave them a hug. Drew told the private cams, “I’m very hopeful about Emily. She seems like a very rational person.”

At Lulu, Katurah told Kaleb that she wants to go after Bruce. Katura told the private cams,”Bruce gets under my skin.” Kaleb told the private cams, “I like that Katura finally told me what’s really going on around here.”

After all of that, host Jeff Probst showed back up with the new immunity challenge. During it, they had to swim out to a cage in the water. Then, use two poles to lift the cage and bring it to shore. Then, dig a hole under the cage so one of them could get out and fetch them some balls so they could shoot them into baskets. The first tribes to get one ball in each of their three baskets, won.

Lulu ended up winning first place. Belo took second place. So, Reba lost and had to figure out who to vote off at the next tribal council meeting.

J told the private cams that she’s going to try to convince the girls to blindside Sifu and get him out. At Reba, Sifu told the private cams he would just rather vote Sean off even though he likes Sean’s energy. The girls, J, Dee and Julie wanted to get Sifu out, but Julie wanted to keep Sifu for challenges. Ultimately, Julie went along with Dee and J. They told Sean they’re keeping him over Sifu.

At the Reba tribal council meeting, Sean got really emotional at one point and said he really wants to be back home with his husband. So, he told the girls to vote him out! So, after the voting, Sifu got 1 vote, Dee received 1 vote, and Sean got 3 votes. With the 3 votes, Sean was voted off by his own request. He gave everyone a hug on the way out. Sean told the private cams, “I came into this game with every intention of making it to the end. Ultimately, I went out on my own terms. I did what I thought was right.”
