New NCIS Hawaii Season 4 Sadly Not Happening. It’s Canceled

Hey, “NCIS: Hawaii” fans. We truly hope you enjoyed every last friggin minute of tonight’s episode 10, especially since it will apparently be the last episode of NCIS: Hawaii that you will ever see forever. Yep, we were very shocked to hear the news, but it is true. Not only was tonight’s episode 10 the finale episode of this current season 3, but it was also the series finale episode.

According to the folks over at
Deadline.com
, the cancellation was most likely due to CBS committing to a lot of new shows, and they had to eventually make a tough decision to let NCIS: Hawaii go. It had good ratings and viewership. They just weren’t as good as the other top shows they have.

CBS has a very rich line up of shows. So, there’s some very tough competition going on over there. Additionally, CBS has committed to other NCIS spin off shows. The first season of the new Tony & Ziva NCIS spin off, a Young Gibbs prequel called NCIS: Origins and the second season of NCIS: Sydney. They’re saying this made the NCIS landscape a very crowded field over at CBS. So, NCIS: Hawaii was the casualty of all that.

According to the Nielsen ratings, NCIS: Hawaii season 3 averaged 5.216 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.35 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 9, which aired last Monday night, April 29, 2024, managed to draw in 5.066 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.32 ratings score.

The most-viewed episode was episode 1 with 5.555 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 5 with 4.821 million LIVE viewers. The highest-rated episode was episode 3 with a 0.41 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 5 with a 0.30 ratings score. So, it did do quite well. However, there were a lot of other shows that did even better than that. So, RIP NCIS: Hawaii.

This is a comment on the CBS cancellation of NCIS Hawaii. Nice going, and they wonder why there are so many upstart production networks. There’s no more commitment to a product anymore. With most shows’ seasons often lasting for maybe a half a dozen episodes, it’s almost impossible to maintain a following. Was enjoying the show with the Hawaii setting, with the loss of Hawaii 50 and Magnum PI. Hate today’s world of television series. Must be showing my Baby Boomer age. Can’t wait for shows like Survivor and Big Brother to finally be cancelled. Guess it’s all about the virtually no cost cast that these reality shows operate on. Pretty soon there won’t be any shows worth while following. Once again, showing my age.
