New 20/20 May 10, 2024 Two Hour Episode Preview Revealed
Hey, “20/20” fans. We’re back in your faces to give you another new preview session for ABC’s 20/20 news show. In this one, we’ve got official intel on what the 20/20 news team will be covering in the next, new episode 27 of this current season 46, which is due out tonight, May 10, 2024.
ABC, once again, put out an official press release for tonight’s new episode 27. So, we will certainly pull it up for this preview session. Let’s get into it.
For starters, we’ve got an official title for this new episode 27. It’s called, “Forever 17.” In tonight’s new episode 27, the 20/20 team will take a deep look at a story about two teen girls named Tracie Hawlett and J.B. Beasley. They went missing all of a sudden way back in July of 1999 after celebrating J.B.’s birthday. They were eventually found dead in the trunk of J.B.’s car with gunshot wounds in their heads.
The investigators who worked this case, did just about everything they could to find a suspect. They tried to identify some unknown male DNA that was found on one of the girls. They got multiple agencies involved, made national TV appeals and even tried to hypnotize an eyewitness with no luck. The case went cold and took decades to finally discover a very unlikely suspect in 2019.
Co-anchor Deborah Roberts handled the reporting duties for this episode and case. She will interview Coley McCraney who is the one serving time for the girls’ murders and is currently trying to appeal his conviction.
NBC’s official description for tonight’s new episode 27 of 20/20 season 46 reads like this, “The last time anyone heard from Tracie Hawlett and J.B. Beasley, two teenagers on the verge of their senior year in high school, was on a sweltering July night in 1999. Tracie called her mother from a payphone to say they were on the way home from celebrating J.B.’s birthday, but the two never made it home.
The girls’ bodies were discovered in the trunk of J.B.’s car, less than a mile from the payphone, with gunshot wounds to their heads. Despite exhaustive efforts, including attempts to identify unknown male DNA found on one of the girls, the involvement of multiple agencies, national TV appeals, and even attempts at hypnosis of eyewitnesses, the case eventually went cold. In 2019, the use of genetic genealogy led to a breakthrough, resulting in a shocking arrest. Could they have finally found the killer?”
An alternate description tells us, “DECADES AFTER AUTHORITIES FOUND TWO TEENAGERS MURDERED IN THE TRUNK OF A CAR, A BREAKTHROUGH LEADS TO A SHOCKING ARREST ON ALL-NEW ’20/20.’ This Episode Includes an Exclusive Interview With the Convicted Killer, Who Maintains His Innocence.”
ABC’s press release confirmed that 20/20 will show up with another brand new episode tonight, May 10, 2024, starting in its usual, 8 pm central standard time slot. It will be a 2-hour event. So, expect it to wrap up at 10 pm central standard time.
