Grey’s Anatomy Ellen Pompeo Made A Pretty Startling And Intense Confession
Hey, “Grey’s Anatomy” fans. We just found a new report from the folks over at USA Today which reveals that our main star Ellen Pompeo aka Meredith Grey (above) told them about a not-so-pleasant experience she had earlier in her career.
This experience sounds pretty shocking and intense because it has to do with director James Toback. Toback is the same guy that Ellen’s castmate Caterina Scorsone aka Amelia Shepherd accused of serious sexual harassment advances. Additionally, Toback has been accused of sexual harassment by more than 30 women.
Ellen revealed that she’s been more fortunate than these other poor ladies, but she did admit to having her own unpleasant run-in with Toback. Apparently, her encounter with him got to the point where she felt the need to tell him to go f@#ck himself!
She stated, “I actually did have a situation with James Toback where I kind of told him to go f@#ck himself. It was held in a public place and I brought a man — my friend Tony, and he didn’t like that at all. And I could tell that. I could tell instantly that he was, like, no good. The minute my friend left, he asked me if I would get naked in a movie. And I was like, ‘Really, dude? My friend has been missing all of 30 seconds and now you say that? I kind of laughed in his face.”
During their interview, Ellen also revealed that she met with producer Harvey Weinstein at one point. He’s also been accused by many actresses of sexual harassment. Ellen revealed that she fortunately didn’t have a bad experience with him. She said he never tried anything with her stating, “I met with Harvey at the Peninsula and he didn’t try anything on me. I was very lucky. I escaped those clutches.”
To wrap up their interview, Ellen revealed that she’s very happy she’s stayed with Grey’s Anatomy for so long. She referenced it as her safe place, and she said it was never fun having to audition for men.
She stated, “I’ve been so lucky and maybe part of my choice to stay was due to knowing exactly what my environment was. Going out there and auditioning for jobs and basically having to beg men and get their approval for jobs was never fun for me. Even though I didn’t have any terrible experiences like some of these poor girls, this is the environment and you’re aware of it. I’m very grateful in my choice to stay in my safe space.”
As previously reported, her castmate Caterina Scorsone unfortunately wasn’t as lucky as her. Caterina revealed on her official Instagram account that Toback told her if she didn’t sleep with him, she wouldn’t get the part she was auditioning for. This happened when she was just a teenager, and the experience discouraged her so much that she decided to quit the business.
However, thanks to producers like Shonda Rhimes, she was convinced to return to the industry as an adult. That’s why we’ve come to know her as doctor Amelia Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy.
The USA Today article went onto point out that Toback’s tally of women that have come forth against him with sexual harassment claims have reached a total of 40. They claim he would often invite them to his apartment or hotel rooms under the guise of private auditions. The accusations started surfacing in a October 22,2017 exposé in the Los Angeles Times.
The most recent women that have come forward are Legally Blonde actress Selma Blair and Oscar nominee Rachel McAdams. Selma claims he barred her from leaving his hotel room until he masturbated to completion. Rachel McAdams claims Toback told her multiple times that he masturbated while thinking of her audition for the 2001 film Harvard Man.
In more pleasant Grey’s Anatomy news, it’s been reported by Deadline that ABC recently decided to extend the current season 14 out by at least two more episodes. So, instead of just the original 22 episodes that was ordered, Grey’s Anatomy fans will now be treated to 24 episodes. That should make almost any Grey’s Anatomy fan quite ecstatic.
The 14th season has performed quite well thus far in the ratings. It’s been averaging a 2.07 rating for the 18-49 year old demographics. It’s been averaging 7 to 8 million viewers per episode in the United States. That’s not counting Canada. The rest of the world hasn’t been treated to season 14 yet. They should here pretty soon though.
Grey’s Anatomy experienced its highest viewer count for the current season 14 last night, November 9,2017, bringing in 8.131 million viewers in the United States. It was the show’s 300th episode. The ratings also jumped from a 1.84 score in its previous November 2,2017 episode to a 1.90 score.
So, it appears that a lot more people were definitely wanting to tune in for the 300th episode which is the 7th episode of this season. As long as Grey’s Anatomy continues to pull in these great numbers, we don’t think it’s going anywhere anytime soon.
The next episode that’s coming up for the show is called, “Out Of Nowhere.” ABC’s official description of it lets us know that the doctors will be dealing with a serious hacking situation. All their computer systems, monitors, phones, labs and patient files will go down!
Bailey is going to try to calm everyone down to no avail. The chaos will be just too intense. Ultimately, the doctors will be forced to have to resort to more creative tactics to treat their patients. It sounds like it’ll be quite dramatic and interesting.
It’ll feature guest star Stefania Spampina as character doctor Carina DeLuca again. It’s scheduled to air next Thursday night, November 16,2017 at 7 pm central standard time on ABC.
Speaking of guest stars, it’s also been reported that the show has hired former “One Tree Hill” Haley James Scott actress Bethany Joy Lenz to come on and play a character named Jenny. Not much else has been revealed about the Jenny character other than her name.
So, we’ll just have to hope something else turns up in the not-to-distant future. However, it does seem more likely that we’ll actually just have to wait until she actually arrives to see what she’s all about. Stay tuned.
