Singer,Teddy Pendergrass sadly died yesterday in Philadelphia. According to ABC news, R&B singer, Teddy Pendergrass died yesterday in suburban Philadelphia. He had apparently been hospitalized for months. His son said he had underwent colon cancer surgery eight months ago,and had a difficult time recovering from it. He was 59 years old.
Before being in a car crash 28 years ago,which left him paralyzed from the waist down, he had tons of R&B hits that included, “Close the Door,” “It Don’t Hurt Now,” and “Love T.K.O.” A lot of his hits became classics. He was able to get about 10 platinum albums in a row,and was a very successful recording artist until the car crash halted his career.
Teddy Pendergrass was born in Philadelphia in 1950. He tried to sing after the car crash,but was unable to deliver the same powerful vocals he had before the the crash. His longtime friend and collaborator Kenny Gamble stated, “He never showed me that he was angry at all about his accident. In fact, he was very courageous.”
