MasterChef September 11, 2019 Eliminated Noah Sims (Recap)
Hey, “MasterChef” fans. Tonight, September 11, 2019, another elimination show did indeed air, and one unlucky chef was sent packing. The usual three judges: Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sanchez, and Joe Bastianich were joined by guest judge Nigella Lawson. She’s a renowned food critic, and she was certainly highly critical in this episode. Sarah mentioned that was amazed to see her.
Next, the contestants were told they had to make an exquisite venison dish that was straight from deer on the London grounds. They had only 60 minutes to do it, and the start clock began before they even entered the Victorian kitchen!
Dorian expressed that she was confident and nervous. She told Gordon and Nigella she was making a coco butter rack of venison dish.
Noah told Gordon and Nigella he was making a pepper corn crusted venison dish. Nigella said, something about it having good flavors.
At this point, Joe was seen telling the other judges that Noah’s dish seems all over the place while he was cooking.
Nick told Joe and Aaron he was making a bone marrow crust venison dish. Sarah told Joe and Aaron she was making a roasted romanesco and rack of venison dish.
At this point, the judges mentioned that Sarah is cooking her dish the right way. So, that sounded good for her.
Dorian said, “Venison is hard to cook, and I’m just hoping it will turn out right.” Noah said he was confident because he’s cooked venison multiple times in the past.
At the 30 minute mark, Gordon hit them with a twist. He required them to also whip up a trifle dessert to go along with their venison dishes. The contestants couldn’t believe it.
Sarah told Gordon and Nigella she was making a Lady liquor and raspberry trifle dish. Dorian told Nigella and Gordon she’s making a blueberry trifle dish.
Gordon pointed out that Noah hadn’t started cooking his venison with only 20 minutes left to go. Gordon told him he needed to start cooking it.
Nigella gave Nick advice about not overcooking his custard. Joe started to worry that Nick is overcooking his venison. They said Noah’s pastry cream was liquid at just 60 seconds left to go. So, that was not good.
After their time was up, it was time for the contestants to present their dishes. Dorian presented a coco butter rack of venison dish. Gordon said, “It’s cooked beautifully. Great job. Nigella said, “It smells wonderful. The potatoes aren’t crisp.”
Joe said, “The dish truly reflects who you are.” For her trifle dessert, Gordon said, “I love it.” Nigella said, “I liked it, but perhaps a little more texture on top.” Joe said, “The flavor was ok. Hopefully, it’ll be enough. I did expect more from you.”
Noah presented a red and black crusted venison loin dish. Nigella said, “It looks very rich.” Gordon said, “I love your ambition.” Joe said, ” The risotto is not properly cooked. The venison is cooked beautifully.” Gordon also said the venison was cooked beautifully.
In regards to Noah’s dessert, Aaron said, “I love it. It’s firing on all cylinders when it comes to texture.” Nigella said, “Perhaps a bit more acidity with the fruit.” Gordon said, “I love it.”
Sarah presented a rack of venison dish. Nigella said, “It looks absolutely beautiful. It’s cooked beautifully. Aaron said, “The venison is cooked beautifully.” Gordon said, “The venison needs more seasoning.” Nigella said, “It needs more of a sear.”
In regards to Sarah’s trifle dessert, Nigella said, “It needs more at the bottom, but it has a good balance of creamy and crunchy.” Gordon said, “It’s spot on, but it needs to be a little more damp.”
Nick presented a bone marrow crusted venison dish. Joe said, “It has artistic plating.” Gordon said, “There’s strings on it. We’d lose a star if we ever served that.” Nigella said, “The crust is really good.” Gordon said, “Crust of the night. You overdosed on the venison.” Joe said, “I loved the dish, but I had a very big problem with the string left in there.”
In regards to Nick’s trifle dessert, Nigella said, “I like it, but it’s more a like a creamy cocktail than a dessert.” Aaron said, “It’s really reflective of your age.” Joe said, “No one makes a trifle like you,” and he meant that in a bad way.
After all of that, the judges deliberated and ultimately decided to send Noah packing. Gordon said, “Your dessert was great, but the venison was overcooked.” However, Gordon did say to Noah, “Promise me you won’t stop cooking.” Noah said,”I’ll do way more than that.” So, good for him.
This means that Nick, Sarah and Dorian will compete in next week’s Wednesday night, September 18, 2019, finale episode! It’ll be a two-hour finale that starts at approximately 7 pm central standard time on FOX.

I think the judges made the right call in sending Noah home. The remaining 3 are all great cooks — I’m really hoping Nick wins it all!
I think the show is rigged…those judges pick out their favorite person that they want to be in the finals, no matter how bad they cook…I know by just the way they are playing the game, who will be the winner…I am going to see the final show to prove that I am right.
You could tell from the beginning that Gordon is going to make Nick the winner. He should have been eliminated a number of times, but wasn’t. And poor Noah; he shouldn’t have been eliminated last night. It just doesn’t make sense any more who gets eliminated. I feel sorry for the contestants – it’s rigged.
For those saying Nick should have gone home because of string, his venison was best and it was a venison challenge. Noah lost sight of that. Although equally did Sarah. Noah seems to lack the subtle understanding of what goes well with what.
At this point I am just hoping that Dorian does not win. My favorite is already gone so I can only cheer for someone that was not my favorite. I will never cheer for Dorian. I have not liked her from the beginning. She has made a lot of mistakes that got others sent home. It’s time for her to go.
I will miss Noah he was so supportive to everyone. It’s very clear they want Nick. But sad for Noah
I think it is rigged also! Nick should have went home a long time ago and get for real! They send Micah home over Subha! Such a shame! Micah and Noah should still be there! Boo Nick!
Josh had one issue with something that was not one of the two items that were to be judged. Nick had string on the venison and a cocktail instead of a trifle. Two issues, one each on both of the two items.
Josh, you were robbed – they wanted to keep Nick and have been trying to get you out for a few weeks.
Gordon, we are not stupid.
Definitely rigged! Noah should not have been the one sent home. He got the best comments from the judges on his venison dish and trifle. Nick left the strings on his venison and made an alcoholic trifle. Sarah’s trifle was bad. I was shocked to see Noah sent home. He’s a great cook and leader. Favoritism on this 10th season has really ruined the show for me. I thought this was MasterChef?!?! It’s clear who the judges want to be the next MasterChef. I am so disappointed with this 10th season. 🙁
