New Hobbit 3,The Battle Of The Five Armies Movie Delivered Great Action,Drama & More
New Line Cinema (Warner Bros. Pictures) released their new action/fantasy flick, “The Hobbit 3: The Battle Of The Five Armies,” into theaters this weekend. I just watched it, and thought it was very entertaining, especially the back half of it when the huge war took place as it really offered some major action fight scenes.
The movie stars: Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Stephen Fry, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, Orlando Bloom, John Bell, Manu Bennett, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Billy Connolly, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Lawrence Makoare, Sylvester McCoy, Graham McTavish, Dean O’Gorman, Mikael Persbrandt and Aidan Turner.
In the new flick, the wicked Smaug dragon showed up to obliterate Laketown with lots of fire breathing action. Everyone was scrambling for their lives until Bard used the last black arrow to take out the wicked dragon with a deadly shot to its heart. Afterwards, the Laketown citizens proclaimed Bard to be their new leader. Meanwhile , Kili confessed his love for beautiful Tauriel.
Elsewhere, it was revealed that Thorin got inflicted with Smaug’s “dragon sickness” as he searched for the Arkenstone, which Bilbo had already stolen from Smaug’s possession, using the magical cloaking ring. Later on, Bilbo gave the Arkenstone over to Thranduill and Bard, which they used to try and trade to Thorin for gold the next day. However, Thorin refused and eventually proclaimed war with the Elves when his cousin Dain showed up with a huge army of Dwarves.
Just when their fight was about to start, Azog and his big monster Orc army shows up on the scene and started attacking the Dwarves and the city of Dale. This prompted Thranduil’s forces to step in to protect the city of Dale against the Orcs. Eventually, Thorin was finally able to overcome the dragon sickness that caused him to go mad. From there, he suited up with his main Dwarf team to go take out Azog in an effort to force his army to retreat.
From this point, some major action scenes went down that resulted in the tragic death of some major characters, but ultimately resulted in victory for the Elves and Dwarves over the Orcs. Again, I thought the movie was very entertaining, especially when the huge battle started up towards the middle parts and the ending. It also began with a lot of action when Smaug went mad on the Laketown.
There were some dialogue scenes that caused me to doze off for a little bit, and the theater being so freaking cold, didn’t help. I’m definitely not fond of the nearly 3 hour runtimes for these movies, but all the action towards end, made it worth it. I gave the movie a solid B- grade. Stay tuned.
