‘The Crazies’ Movie Gets Good Reviews From Top Movie Critics
‘The Crazies’ movie gets good reviews from top movie critics. Overture Films just released their new horror flick today called, “The Crazies,” and it got pretty damn good reviews from the top movie critics. They gave it mostly Bs across the board,and only a few Cs. The movie stars: Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell, Danielle Panabaker, and Joe Anderson.
Ty Burr from the Boston Globe gave it a B. He said, it was “extremely solid stuff.” Roger Ebert over at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a B-. He stated, that it was “a perfectly competent genre film in a genre that has exhausted its interest for me, the Zombie Film.”
Geoff Berkshire at the Chicago Tribune gave it a B. He said , it was a genre flick that knows what works–scary set pieces and likeable characters.” Peter Paras at E! online gave it a B rating,stating, it was “more effective as a thrill ride than a truly scary experience.”
Entertainment Weekly’s Owen Gleiberman gave it a C. He stated, “Here’s what I can say for sure about the humanoid attackers in the new version of The Crazies: They’re not very interesting.”
Bill Gibron from Filmcritic.com gave it a C-. He said, “the updated Crazies has more than enough mood. What it lacks, however, is menace.” Michael Rechtshaffen over at the Hollywood Reporter gave it a B. He said, “This spirited yet faithful George Romero remake has the makings of a certified hit.”
Mike Hale from the New York Times was a little dissatisfied,giving it a C. He said, it’s “Not crazy enough.” James Berardinelli from Reelviews gave it a B-. He stated, “Timonthy Olyphant, who often plays psychos, is cast against type here as the sanest character of the bunch.”
Claudia Puig over at USA Today gave it a B-. She said, The Crazies is familiar B-movie fare, but it’s also lively fun and presented with well-paced flair. Be sure to watch it in a safe and contained area. “The Crazies” movie is in theaters now.
