‘Splice’ movie delivered really weird creatures & interesting story. Warner Bros. Pictures released their new weird thriller flick “Splice” in theaters this weekend, and I must say that it was a very interesting story, but the creatures were really weird. They also had an interesting twist that made them become dangerous. The movie stars: Adrien Brody, Sarah Polley, and Delphine Chaneac.

“Splice” revolves around characters Clive Nicoli (Adrien Brody) and Elsa Kast (Sarah Polley). They are genetic engineers who have been working on experiments that involved creating new animal species to obtain special protein compounds from them. But now, they want to try experimenting with human DNA because they believe it can help cure many diseases. They get turned down to do the project, but they secretly go ahead and do it anyways.

From that experiment, they spawned a new human/animal female creature named Dren. Dren appears dangerous at first, but Clive & Elsa eventually appear to contain and befriend it. Dren ages at a rapid rate, and Clive & Elsa mostly hide and study Dren in different locations throughout the movie. But just the oddness of the creature kept me intrigued the entire time. Towards the end of the movie, Dren starts to get more aggressive and violent. Oh,and Adrien also ends up having sex with it,which made the movie take an interesting turn.

It caps off with a thrilling action-filled finale that reveals a surprise twist and a possibility of a sequel. I thought the movie was just really very interesting. The whole time, I found myself wondering when would everything go wrong because the creature was so odd. I just knew the damn thing could turn on them at any moment. The girl Elsa is the main culprit. She keeps pushing for them to study it and keep it alive. It was just a really intriguing movie. It wasn’t as scary as I thought it was going to be,though.

Grade: B+

What a bizarre and disturbing, yet hauntingly beautiful movie, full of twists and turns. Every time I thought I had figured it out, it took another direction and made me await the outcome even more eagerly. It is best to know next to nothing about it in advance, though.
