George Clooney ‘American’ movie delivered a unique story & drama. Focus Features released their new action/drama,George Clooney branded flick “The American” into theaters this past Wednesday. I just got done watching it,and I think it brought a lot more drama than action to the table. Although,it did feature some action scenes, they didn’t make up the brunt of this movie. It stars: George Clooney, Violante Placido, Thekla Reuten, and Paolo Bonacelli

“The American” revolved around character Jack/Edward (George Clooney) who is a hired assassin that retreats to Italy after a job in Sweden ends pretty ugly. His boss tells him to go there and wait for further instructions. Once Jack arrives in Italy, he sort of befriends a priest. Then eventually takes on another assignment to build a complex gun for a beautiful, mysterious contact named Mathilde (Thekla Reuten).

The movie goes on to mostly show how he builds the complex weapon, which was pretty interesting to watch. Jack also develops a romantic relationship with a beautiful prostitute named Clara (Violante Placido). It’s just business at first, but then she eventually wants to start a relationship with him,and they grow very close. Meanwhile, Jack has to always watch his back as the Swedes have located him,and are trying to kill him.

The film contained some good action scenes involving Jack chasing down an assassin on a motor scooter, and getting involved in a shootout from the very start of the film. However, the action scenes were pretty rare. It capped off with a nice, suspenseful twist. Even though there wasn’t as much action as I thought there would be, it was still a very interesting movie to watch because the plot was pretty unique and George Clooney did a great job. It also had some good nude scenes, and that always helps.

When the action did occur,it had me on the edge of my seat with the suspense it delivered. I gave this movie a grade B because I was hoping to see more than it showed, but it was still good. “The American” movie is in theaters now.
