Disney World Is Shutting Down Its Entire Railroad To Make Way For A Major, New Ride
Hey, Disney World fans. We’ve got some very interesting and exciting news for you guys. It turns out that the Disney World crew is about to just go ahead and temporarily shut down their entire railroad system so they can make way for a major, new Tron roller coaster ride! That’s right guys.
It’s about to go down on December 3, 2018. That’s when the railroad will be shutting down. According to the folks over at wdwnt.com, the railroad trains will be parked at the Main Street U.S.A. station while the railroad is closed. While it’s there, it will reportedly allow visitors to get a closer look at the railroad and give them a rare opportunity to snap photos.
They say the railroad is expected to be closed well into the year 2019. No exact date was given, but you can expect a pretty long wait for the railroad to be active again. You know how that construction works. Construction crews can spend months and months with that type of stuff.
They also reported that another big attraction in Tomorrowland is expected to close soon. It’s the Tomorrowland Speedway. Apparently, it’s going to close temporarily sometime in 2019 to also make room for this new Tron roller coaster. It’s expected that the Speedway will reopen in the summer of 2019. So, we’re guessing that the Speedway will close pretty early in 2019.
Now, let’s talk about this new Tron roller coaster that has all the Disney World workers trying to move everything out of the way for it. According to Disneyparks official blog , this new Tron roller coaster apparently is currently one of the highest-rated rides in Shanghai Disneyland. Now, it’s coming to Walt Disney World Florida!
They say it’s going to sit in an entirely new area right next to the Space Mountain attraction at Magic Kingdom Park. Bob Chapek, who is the Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, made the announcement during the Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts presentation at D23 Expo 2017.
They went on to describe in more detail exactly what this new Tron roller coaster will offer you guys. It’s a coaster-style attraction where riders board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles. It offers access into the energy, lights and excitement of TRON’s high-tech universe. They claim it’s one of the most thrilling adventures at any Disney park. Now, that’s huge!
If that is truly the case, it certainly sounds like it’s quite a ride to look forward to. Bob went onto say that the plan is to open the Tron roller coaster ride attraction in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021. Of course, it’s always possible they could open it sooner since they are aggressively starting up construction on it. We’ll just have to see how that all pans out. We’ll certainly let you guys know if we find out any more details on it.
How do you guys feel about Disney World Florida’s future plans to dish up a Tron roller coaster? Are you happy about it? Are you sad about it? Or Do you just not care one way or the other?
