‘Amazing Race’ June 12, 2019 Eliminated Chris & Bret (Episode 9 Recap)
Hey, “Amazing Race” fans. Tonight, June 12, 2019, the 9th episode of this 31st season did indeed air. It kicked off with the teams learning they had to travel to Split,Croatia to get their next clue.
At one point, Nicole and Victor got nervous and worried they might not be able to catch the same flight as everyone else. If they didn’t, they were done, but they ended up being able to catch one of the same flights much to their relief.
Once the teams arrived in Split Croatia, they had to serve six drinks to people on the beach and receive a Travelocity Gnome. Then they had to return their trays to the bartender to get their next clue.
After they wrapped up that task, the teams learned they had to travel to the Marjan Cave Church to acquire next clue. Once they arrived there, the teams ran into their detours for this leg of the race. They had to do either the “Poetry In Motion” detour or the “Washed In From The Ocean” detour.
In the “Poetry In Motion” detour,the teams had to ride on a floating tube that was attached to a boat. Afterwards, they had to correctly recite a poem to get their next clue. If they failed, they had to go back and do it all over again.
In the “Washed In From The Ocean” detour, the teams had to take an underwater snorkeling adventure and track down goblets and coins to get their next clue.
After the teams finished up their detours, they were instructed to go to Diocletian’s Palace to get their next clue. At one point, they showed footage of Colin and Christie realizing they left their Gnome back at the detour. So, they had to go all the way back and get it, putting them in serious jeopardy!
Once the teams arrived at the Diocletian’s Palace, they had to complete a Roadblock challenge. In this particular Roadblock challenge, one of the team members had to watch men dressed as Roman soldiers. Meanwhile, the other team member had to keep track of five of them that were wearing red headbands.
Then the soldiers hid themselves with their shields. At this point, the team member that was looking for the red headbands had to correctly reveal which five soldiers were wearing the red headbands to get their next clue.
After the teams successfully completed that Roadblock, they were directed to go to the Matejuska at Split Harbor, which was the pit stop for this leg of the race.
Korey & Tyler ended up arriving in first place, and won a trip for two to Mexico for 7 days and 7 nights from Travelocity.
Nicole & Victor took the 2nd place spot. Becca and Floyd showed up in third place. Colin and Christie made it there for 4th place just in front of Leo and Jamal for 5th place.
That meant poor Chris and Bret showed up dead last, and host Phil Keoghan did confirm that they were eliminated. Apparently, Chris and Bret did so bad during the detours that Colin and Christie still beat them even after having to go back after they forgot their Gnome! It was very bad.
