‘So You Think You Can Dance’ September 16, 2019 Bailey Munoz Won (Recap)

Hey, “So You Think You Can Dance” fans. Tonight, September 16, 2019, the season finale did indeed air and a new champion was crowned! All the judges: Laurieann Gibson, Dominic “D-Trix” Sandoval, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe were, of course, on hand.

The final four contestants: Gino Cosculluela, Bailey Munoz, Sophie Pittman and Mariah Russell joined the other six contestants that were eliminated to do a top 10 group number that was choreographed by Mandy Moore.

Next, it was revealed that the judges and Top 4 got to choose their favorite dances of this season. After that, Laurieann picked her favorite dance, which was choreographed by Luther Brown. It featured Mariah and Bailey dancing hip hop to Lizzo by Missy Elliot.

Next,Nigel picked his favorite dance. It was a jazz routine by choreographer Ray Leeper to the song, “You Can Keep Your Hat On” by Joe Cocker. It featured dancers Ezra and Madison.

Dominic was up next with his pick. It turned out to be a routine that was choreographed by Travis Wall for dancers Eddie and Sophie. They performed to the song, “When The Party’s Over” by Billie Ellish.

Next, Mariah picked her favorite dance of this season. It was a contemporary routine that was choreographed by Mandy Korpinen & Elizabeth Petrin to the song, “Slide” by James Bay. It featured Mariah and Bailey.

After that, Mary Murphy picked her favorite routine of this season. It turned out to be a Jive routine that was choreographed by Dancing With The Stars pros Emma Slater and Sasha Farber to the song, “Long Tall Sally” by Little Richard. It featured dancers Gino and Stephanie.

Next, the top 10 performed an encore routine to Harry Stiles'”Sign Of The Time” song. It was choreographed by Travis Wall.

Next, Dominic picked another favorite dance of this season. It was a Broadway routine that was choreographed by Aloe Blackstone. Dancers Anna and Benjamin performed this one to the song, “I’ll be Seeing You” by Tank and the Bangas.

Mary Murphy chose another favorite routine. It was a hip hop number by choreographer Luther Brown for dancers Gino and All-Star Comfort. They danced to the song,”Get Up” by Ciara.

Next, they showed a special recap video of the entire season. Shortly after that, Nigel made another favorite dance pick from this season. It was a dance performed by Phoebe Kochis.

She was one of the dancers who didn’t make the first round cut. She has Down syndrome, and Nigel had invited her to be a guest at the Academy rounds. Tonight, they let her perform LIVE on the show. She did a brief routine to the song, “Me” by Taylor Swift.

After that, Sophie picked her favorite routine. It was a contemporary dance by choreographer Kacie Monnie for dancers Sophie and Gino. They danced to the song, “You Will Be Found” by Evan Hanson.

Next,All-stars Lauren, Cyrus and the Top 10 perform a brand new group, hip hop routine that was choreographed by Luther Brown, which is specifically for their upcoming dance tour. They danced to the song, “Post That” by Leikeli47.

After that, Dominic chose another favorite dance from this season. He picked a jazz routine by choreographer Ray Leeper for dancers Madison, Mariah and Sophie. They danced to the song, “I Can’t Stand The Rain” by Tina Turner.

Mary chose another routine at this point. It was a Broadway routine by choreographer Aloe Blackstone for All-Star Koine Iwasaki and Bailey. They danced to the song, “Mambo Italiano” by Dean Martin.

Next, Laurianne chose another favorite dance from this season. It was a contemporary routine by choreographer Talia Fava for dancers Bailey, Gino and Ezra to the song,”Amen” by Amber Run.

Gino chose his favorite dance number of this season. It was a jazz routine by choreographer Jonathan Redavid for dancers Sophie and Gino. They danced to the song, “Trouble” by Elvis Presley.

Bailey picked his favorite dance. It was a Jazz routine by choreographer Ray Leeper to the song, “Need You Tonight” by INXS for dancers Bailey and Mariah.

Shortly after that, host Cat Deeley revealed that Sophie landed in 4th place. After running her goodbye clip, Nigel picked another favorite routine. It was a Broadway number by choreographer Aloe Blackstone for dancers Gino and Bailey. They danced to the song,”Girl from Ipanema” by Nat King Cole.

Laurianne chose another dance. It was a contemporary routine by choreographer Robert Roldan for dancers Gabby and Ezra to the song, “Ne me quitte pas” by Jacques Brel.

Next, Cat Deeley revealed that Gino landed in 3rd place. So, they ran his goodbye montage. From there, they ran montage footage for the final two Bailey and Mariah. After that, Cat finally revealed that Bailey Munoz is the friggin winner of this season! So, much congrats to Bailey.
