‘Survivor’ October 23, 2019 Voted Off Tom Laidlaw (Recap)
Hey, “Survivor” fans. Tonight, October 23, 2019, a brand new episode did indeed air, and another unlucky contestant did get sent packing at the end. Tonight’s episode kicked off with Dean expressing that he felt heavily blindsided by his tribe sending his girlfriend Chelsea home at the last tribal council.
Dean was scrambling around trying to figure out who was the mastermind behind the vote to get Chelsea out. Missy told the private cams, “Yeah, it was me, Dean. I’m the one who got Chelsea voted out.” It was a pretty funny segment, especially since Missy lied to Dean’s face about it.
Next, host Jeff Probst showed up to reveal that some people would be switching tribes. They did it by drawing straws. Afterwards, they did a Rewards Challenge. In this challenge, two tribemembers had to crawl on their bellies to a finish line.
Then the rest of the tribe had to put another puzzle together for the win. The Vokai tribe ended up pulling off the win. The rewards was a big meal and dessert from Applebees.
Tom complained about Karishma not being able to do anything for the Lairo tribe during competitions. In this Rewards challenge, Karishma was clearly the reason why Lairo lost.
Lairo couldn’t start the puzzle until they were way behind the Vokai tribe due to Karishma not being able to crawl fast enough to the finish line. Noura ended up literally having to drag Karishma to the finish line. It was pretty pathetic.
Elaine revealed to the private cams that she wasn’t really feeling her new Vokai tribe. Karishma told Kellee she wants to flip on her old Lairo tribemembers.
Tom started campaigning to get Karishma out. Kellee and Dean started talking a lot and found they had someone in common they both know on the outside.
Karishma definitely liked her new Vokai tribemembers more. She was able to open up more to them. She told the private cams that she completely switched to them. Elsewhere, Aaron and Tommy agreed to work with each other and protect each other moving forward.
Next, the two tribes did their immunity challenge for this episode. In this challenge the tribemembers had to climb a latter that was located in the water. Then transport buoys while on a balance beam to a platform. From there, they had to shoot the buoys into baskets.
The first tribe to make three buoys in the baskets, won. Vokai won it. So, the Lairo tribe had to, once again, decide who to send packing.
During this immunity challenge, Karishma managed to hold her Lairo tribe back again at the beginning of it. So, at this point, we were sure her name would come up as a target again. Surely enough, it did.
Meanwhile, Karishma tried to campaign for her life. Kellee told Dean Karishma is a terrible challenge person. However, Kellee told the private cams she doesn’t think Dean is the right person to take to a merge.
Tom, Dean and Karishma were the main names that came up heading into tribal council. At tribal council, Janet pointed out that Dean never really made a connection with her, but he took the time to do that with the others.
Other than that, they just talked about different game possibilities, but no particular direction was made clear. I just really wanted them to hurry and vote at this point.
Finally, after all the votes were complete, it was revealed that Tom got 5 votes, and Karishma received just 2 votes. So, with a whopping 5 votes, Tom was indeed the unlucky contestant to get shafted.
This Karishma girl most certainly has 9 lives in this game. I feel like this situation with Karishma dodging elimination could go last for a while because people must be thinking they could easily beat in a final three situation.
Or at the very least, they probably just feel like they could get rid of her at anytime. They clearly felt like they should’ve gotten rid of Tom ,now, why they can because he might not be so easy to get rid of later on. Tom did make a graceful exit. He told everyone, “good luck” on the way out.
