Grey’s Anatomy Justin Chambers Aka Alex Karev Officially Quit The Show
Hey, “Grey’s Anatomy” fans. We’ve got some really shocking and bad news for you guys if you’re Alex Karev fans. Some crazy news broke this past Friday morning, January 10, 2020. It revealed that actor Justin Chambers who plays Alex Karev on your favorite medical drama Grey’s Anatomy is officially done with the show!
That’s right, guys. He has called it quits after a long 15 years! According to Eonline.com, ABC themselves confirmed the news. Then Justin himself confirmed the news with an official statement.
In his statement, he mentioned that he’s been wanting to diversify his acting roles. Now that he’s about to turn 50, he feels it’s the right time.
Here’s exactly what Justin said verbatim, “There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years. For some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices. And as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time.
As I move on from Grey’s Anatomy, I want to thank the ABC family, Shonda Rimes, original cast members Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens, and the rest of the amazing cast and crew, both past and present, and, of course, the fans for an extraordinary ride.”
Eonline went on to say that it’s currently unclear when exactly we will see the last of Alex Karev on the show as his final episode has yet to be officially announced by ABC. So, we will have to update you guys about that at a later date.
According to a new report from Deadline.com,Grey’s Anatomy’s leading lady Ellen Pompeo briefly addressed Justin Chamber’s exit from the show by posting a tweet on her official Twitter account.
Apparently, Ellen was responding to a tweet from Vanity Fair about Justin’s exit. The Vanity Fair tweet said, “#GreysAnatomy is about to feel one of its biggest losses yet.”
Again, Ellen responded to that tweet writing, “Truer words have never been spoken @VanityFair.” You guys can view that tweet on Hellen Pompeo’s official Twitter account by Clicking Here.
Judging by that statement, it certainly sounds like Ellen definitely thinks that Justin Chamber’s exit will indeed be a heavy blow to the show.
We’ve also got some very important news from the folks over at People.com concerning this matter.
They’re claiming that Justin’s last Grey’s Anatomy episode was actually the one that aired back on November 14, 2019, and that his character will not get a send-off episode.
If that’s really true, it means the Alex Karev character is as good as gone ,right now, as we speak. People.com says Justin aka Alex’s finale episode featured Alex standing up for Meredith Grey when she faced the medical board to get her medical license reinstated, which was previously suspended due to that crazy insurance fraud scandal.
As most of you know, it was later revealed that Alex’s contributions worked, and Meredith got her medical license reinstated. People.com went on to say that ABC will go the route of just explaining at some point in one of the storylines why Alex is no longer around. So, we’ll see how that works out if it is indeed true.
We still don’t know if that’s true because ABC hasn’t made any official statements about how Alex’s exit will be handled that I know of, but maybe People.com has a secret source at ABC. Who knows?
One thing that is for sure is that season 16 will finally return with new episodes on Thursday night, January 23, 2020 in its same 7 pm central standard time slot on ABC of course.
It will be episode number 10. We made a whole new article about it. It reveals a few, official spoiler teasers for that episode. It reveals who all will be starring in it and so on and so forth. You can check it out by Clicking Here.
