‘SWAT’ Season 3, May 20, 2020 Episode 21 Is The Finale. Renewed For Season 4
Hey, “S.W.A.T.” fans. We are back to give you guys some totally excellent news for your favorite drama “SWAT.” We also have some bad news. We’ll start with the bad news first. The bad news is that SWAT will indeed end its current season 3 with tonight’s new episode 21.
That’s right, guys. The new episode 21 is indeed the finale episode for SWAT’s current season 3. That means you won’t be getting any new episodes for SWAT for a while.
But now, here’s the good news. The good news is that you will eventually get some new episodes of SWAT when they come out with their brand new season 4! That’s right, guys. The folks over at CBS did officially renew SWAT for a brand new season 4.
That means, at some point in the future, you guys will be treated to another whole season of SWAT. Right now, it looks like season 4 might not premiere until early 2021 due to this terrible pandemic screwing up the filming schedule for the entire TV and Film industry.
We’ve heard reports that CBS is pushing back the premiere of most of their scripted TV shows until the midseason.
The folks over at TV Line reported this SWAT season 4 renewal news back on May 6, 2020. So, CBS got the SWAT season 4, renewal announcement out of the way by early May 2020.
Right now, we have no idea how many episodes season 4 of SWAT will contain, especially if it gets pushed back until the midseason. This will definitely depend on when these shows will be able to start production again.
Right now, they are still shut down until only God knows when. However, we are hearing that a realistic timeline for the crews to get back to work is August, September or October 2020. We’ll just have to wait and see. Everything is still up in the air right now.
Here’s how SWAT season 3 did in the ratings for CBS. It averaged 3.992 million LIVE viewers per episode and a 0.57 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The last episode 20 that aired on April 29, 2020 brought in 5.031 million LIVE viewers and a 0.67 ratings score.
The highest-viewed episode was episode 9 with 5.226 million LIVE viewers. The lowest-viewed episode was episode 7 with 3.085 million LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episode was episode 9 with a 0.71 ratings score. The lowest rated episode was actually a tie between episodes 5 and 14. They both had a 0.48 ratings score. We’re guessing those numbers were just good enough to meet CBS’ very high standards.
According to TV Line, SWAT was certainly on the bubble up until it finally got its renewal. We can see why too. The LIVE viewership numbers did get pretty low for a CBS’ standards during the middle parts of the season, but it came on pretty strong towards this latter part of the season.
Spoiler warning: For those of you who are interested, CBS did serve up a teaser description for tonight’s season 3, finale episode 21. It does contain some light spoilers. So, if you don’t like spoilers, you are urged to leave right now.
If you do like spoilers, you will definitely want to read this episode 21 teaser description. With that said, Episode 21 is titled, “Diablo.”
CBS’ official description for episode 21 reads like this, “The SWAT team searches for a group of drug smugglers who crash a plane in a Los Angeles suburb and scatter after a joint mission with the DEA to stop the shipment goes awry.
