‘Tough As Nails’ July 29, 2020 Eliminated Tara Davis From Individual Challenges (Recap)
Hey, “Tough As Nails” fans. Tonight, July 29, 2020, another new episode of Tough As Nails did indeed air, and another unlucky person did indeed get eliminated from the individual challenges and a chance to win $200,000 whopping dollars.
Tonight’s episode kicked off with host Phil Keoghan letting the two teams Dirty Hands and Savage Crew know that their next team challenge is about to start, and that it’s worth $12,000 dollars in prize money for their team if they win.
In this team challenge, they had to run out and collect a literal ton (2000 pounds) worth of sand, pea gravel and rock gravel. Then they had to get it all into bags for the win.
The Savage Crew picked Michelle to be their leader for this challenge, and Dirty Hands picked Callie to be their leader.
The Savage Crew appeared to have issues with getting lost while driving to the collection site at first, but they seemed to finally find their way around.
At one point, Dirty Hands realized that they didn’t collect enough sand during their first trip out. So, they had to go back and get more sand, which wasted a lot of extra time and gave the Savage Crew an opening to catch up.
When it was all said and done, the Dirty Hands crew made up for their error to pull out the victory in this challenge. They collected and bagged 2 tons of each of the materials first for the win.
Afterwards, the Savage Crew was seen talking about their very difficult loss: Tara said, “We made a plan, but we didn’t follow through.” Tara got really upset and started crying saying, “I feel everyone thinks I’m the weakest link.”
Linnett said, “I’m the one who should be the most upset because I’m the only one in this group who can’t do the individual challenges.”
Next, Phil introduced the individual challenge for this episode. He also told them that the winner of this challenge will get an advantage in the next individual challenge, which could be a game-changer.
In this individual challenge, each contestant was given a sledgehammer to break up a block of concrete into pieces. Then they had to load it up on a wheelbarrow and row it to a container and fill it up with all the concrete pieces for the win.
At one point, Danny said, “My strategy is to break the concrete up into big pieces so I don’t have to take as many trips and save time.” That indeed proved to be a winning strategy for Danny because he ended up finishing first for the win and the advantage in the next individual challenge.
Luis was competing with a broken finger. So, that was rough for him. Everyone else was able to finish ahead of Luis, Young and Tara at this point. Then Luis finished to take that final spot to not have to compete in overtime.
So, Tara and Young had to compete in the overtime comp to save their chances of still being able to compete in the individual challenges.
In this overtime competition, Tara and Young were each given a large hour glass that was filled with sand and set to run out.
During the comp, Tara and Young had to run back and forth across a narrow, wooden beam and collect sand using a small bucket. They had to keep filling their hour glasses with sand to keep them from running out of sand.
The person who kept their hour glass filled up with sand the longest before it ran out of sand, won. If they fell off the beam during one of their runs, they had to start their current trip over again, losing more valuable time.
This would eventually prove very detrimental for Tara because she did end up falling off the beam during one of her trips, and it caused her to fall behind Young just enough for her hour glass to run out of sand before Young’s hour glass ran out.
So, Young end up pulling out a narrow victory over Tara to keep his individual challenges life alive, and poor Tara was eliminated and had to clock out from the individual challenges, losing her shot at winning $200,000 whopping dollars.
