‘The Chi’ Season 3, August 23, 2020 Episode 10 Is the Finale. Season 4 Not Yet Renewed
Hey, “The Chi” fans. We are back at you this Sunday to inform all of you who are unaware that tonight’s episode 10 of The Chi’s current season 3 is indeed the last one for this season. Unfortunately, we cannot currently confirm whether or not tonight’s episode 10 will be the last you’ll ever see of The Chi again.
Apparently, Showtime has yet to confirm whether or not they will renew The Chi for a brand new season 4. So, we’re just twiddling our thumbs over here, wondering what they’re going to do next.
Hopefully, there will be some announcement made pretty soon. Until then, all we can tell you is to just cross your fingers and pray about it if you even care that much.
Though we don’t have an official confirmation of a season 4 renewal, we can look at the numbers that The Chi’s third season put up.
It averaged 401,000 LIVE viewers per episode and a 0.13 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The last episode 9, which aired on August 16, 2020 brought in 384,000 LIVE viewers and a 0.13 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was episode 6 with 525,000 LIVE viewers. The least-watched episode was episode 2 with 347,000 LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episode was episode 6 with a 0.18 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episodes 1 and 2. They tied with a 0.11 ratings score.
These numbers are not counting all the viewers that it brought in from on-demand streaming services. We’re very sure Showtime takes that into account when making their renewal decisions as those platforms certainly pull in revenue for the network.
The LIVE viewership and ratings numbers look ok for a cable network. If this show had these numbers on one of the big three networks like ABC, CBS or NBC, it would get totally obliterated. But, for a cable network like Showtime, we’re actually hearing that The Chi is one of their highest-rated series.
If that is the case, it seems highly hopeful that Showtime will renew it for a season 4, but we’re not looking at their accounting books for how much they make off this show. So, we’ll just have to wait and see what Showtime announces for this show later on down the line.
