Next, the contestants presented their dishes to the judges. Kelsey was up first. She presented a Kalamata Olive-Crusted Lamb Chop dish. She added celery root, chickpea purée, roasted carrots and Swiss chard to it. Aaron said, “It’s a classic dish done correctly.” Joe said, “It’s excellent.” Gordon said, “It’s delicious.”

Anne presented her Fried Quail dish. She added roasted root purée, pickled radishes, green beans and ranch dressing to it. Gordon said, “The actual quail taste nice, but it has too much breading. It’s not legendary status.” Aaron said, “You mummified the quail.” Joe said, “This is a mistake. You treated the protein the wrong way.”

Alejandro presented a Venison Loin dish. He added potato fondant, garlic eggplant purée and cabernet juniper berry demi-glace to it. Joe said, “You nailed it with the cooking. This is a whole other level.” Aaron said, “The juniper and venison have a beautiful marriage.” Gordon said, “It’s very delicious. You’re growing as a chef.”

Lexy presented her Fried Chicken Wings dish. She added sweet potatoes, corn bread and collard greens to it. Gordon said, “The collard greens are delicious. The corn bread is super sweet.” Aaron said, “This is a step back for you.” Joe said, “This dish is too simple and too sweet. Too bad. It’s not restaurant quality.”

Abe presented his Shepherd’s Pie dish. He served it with fennel slaw. Joe said, “This isn’t how it’s supposed to look. It’s kind of a mess. It’s more like a Shepherd’s soup pie. However, I like the way it taste.” Gordon said, “The potatoes need to be more fluffy.” Aaron also said, “The potatoes need to be fluffier, but the flavors are good. It’s seasoned well.”

After tasting all the dishes, the judges determined that Abe, Lexy and Anne landed in the bottom three with their dishes.

Then, they finally decided that Lexy’s dish was the least-inspiring aka the worst dish of this round. So, she was sadly eliminated. In her final statement, Lexy said, “I have a stronger since of confidence in myself, and I will be forever grateful for this experience.”
