East New York Season 1 May 14, 2023 Episode 21 Is The Finale. Season 2 Not Happening At CBS

Hey, “East New York” fans. We hope you guys thoroughly enjoyed tonight’s episode 21, especially since it appears that it will definitely be the last new episode of East New York you will ever see for life! That’s right, guys, we’ve just learned from recent reports that CBS has ,in fact, decided to cancel East New York. So, it won’t be getting a new season 2 at least not at CBS. More on that later.

According to the folks over at Deadline.com , CBS decided to cancel East New York back on May 8, 2023 due to some competition and business conflicts during the negotiations process.

Apparently,CBS shows: S.W.A.T.and East New York were competing for the same time slot in CBS’ upcoming 2023-2024 season. CBS had decided to cancel SWAT at first, but then they got so much backlash from SWAT fans that they decided to reverse that decision and cancel East New York instead of SWAT. So, SWAT will now get a new season 7 consisting of only 13 episodes, and East New York is being left hung out to dry.

Deadline is also reporting that there were some other business issues that made the East New York negotiations more difficult. It had to do with CBS requesting additional streaming rights that allows them to stream current seasons of shows on their streaming platforms. Their sources are also saying that SWAT’s older, more proven track record also played a factor in CBS choosing to pick it over East New York.

With all that said, there is a new report coming from the people over at TVLine.com , which claims that Warner Bros. Television is actively in the process of trying to rescue East New York by finding it another network to air on.

They’re also reporting that the co-creator of East New York Mike Flynn recently hit up his official Instagram account to deliver a message, which reveals he indeed still holding out hope that a new season 2 of East New York could still happen. His Instagram message reads like this, “On the heel of the news of our series cancellation, I want to thank our outstanding cast and incredible crew for making 21 episodes of fine television.

And WBTV and CBS for taking us on and letting us tell these important stories to the world. AND to everyone who watched, tweeted and ‘Grammed the show every week. East New York’s spirit is strong and mighty as the people who live there. Our journey doesn’t have to end here. Stay tuned, folks.” You guys can view that post on Mike Flynn’s official Instagram account by Clicking Here.
