Young Sheldon Season 6 May 18, 2023 Episodes 21 & 22 Are The Finale. Season 7 Is Happening
Hey, “Young Sheldon” fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed episodes 21 and 22 tonight, especially since they were the final episodes of Young Sheldon’s current season 6. Yep, that’s right, guys. Tonight’s episode 22 was technically the season finale episode to wrap up this season 6.
That means you guys will have to wait quite a while to see another new episode of Young Sheldon, especially if this current writers strike continues because it will throw off the whole regular schedule.
Anyways, with that said, we are glad to be able to officially tell you that CBS did indeed renew Young Sheldon for a brand new season 7. According to the TVLine.com folks, CBS made the early renewal announcement way back in March 2023.
After the announcement was made, Young Sheldon Missy star Raegan Revord hit up her official Instagram account to post the following statement: “That’s a wrap on Season 6. Even after all this time I can’t believe I get to be a part of this incredible show surrounded by the most loving and supportive cast and crew! See you this summer for Season 7!”
The TVLine.com people pointed out that season 7 might actually be the last season for Young Sheldon since it is a prequel spinoff and can only tell stories up to a certain point in the timeline. However, it’s all just speculation ,right now, and the writers strike could definitely affect that because it could cause them to not get a full season for season 7. If that happens, they would need a season 8 to wrap up the full story. Yeah, everything’s a mess right now.
The one thing that isn’t a mess, right now, is the terrific performance numbers that Young Sheldon delivers for CBS. According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, Young Sheldon season 6 averaged 7.172 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.58 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 20, which aired last Thursday night, May 11, 2023, managed to draw in 6.690 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.56 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was episode 12 with 7.725 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 20 with 6.690 million LIVE viewers. The highest-rated episodes were episodes 12 and 15. They both tied for first place with a 0.68 ratings score.
The lowest-rated episode was episode 17 with a 0.47 ratings score. If you tack on the numbers from the streaming platforms, the average viewership numbers for each episode jumps to 9.3 million viewers, and the average ratings number jumps to a 0.90 score. So, yes. Those are some very terrific numbers. It’s easy to understand why CBS gave it an early renewal.
Alright, guys. That’s going to do it for this latest, “Young Sheldon” TV show report, but definitely stay tuned for more.
