Tough As Nails July 16, 2023 Eliminated Cheryl Lieteau From Individual Competitions (Recap)
Hey, “Tough As Nails” fans. Tonight, July 16, 2023, another new episode of Tough As Nails’ current season 5 did indeed hit the air, and another unlucky contestant did lose their spot in the individual competitions at the end.
Tonight’s episode kicked off with host Phil Keoghan arriving to present a new team challenge to the contestants. In this one, the Dirty Hands and Savage Crew teams had to run through a huge home improvement store and track down 45 items to fill a purchase order. Then, run them through the checkout line and load them on a truck. The first team to complete it, won.
Cheryl was chosen to be crew boss for the Dirty Hands team, and Jessica was chosen to be crew boss for the Savage Crew team. During this challenge, Savage Crew got off to a really quick start while Dirty Hands took a lot of time trying to come up with a plan to gather all the items.
Savage Crew made sure to keep their product list in a designated area so they could all find it if they needed to refer back to it. Meanwhile, Dirty Hands wasted a lot of time because Cheryl ran off with the list, making it hard for the other team members to find it if they needed it. It caused them to grab things that had already been picked and so on and so forth.
Despite all that, the competition was close between the two teams by the time they got to the checkout line. Then, Savage Crew realized some mistakes. They had picked up the wrong items and had to run back and get the correct items. The time wasted for that allowed the Dirty Hands team some extra time to catch up and actually take the lead.
Dirty Hands was able to keep that slight lead long enough to pull off the win to go up 4-2 in team competition wins. They also won $12,000 dollars for this challenge. All they need is one extra win to claim the bonus $60,000 dollars.
Next, the contestants were given their individual competition for this episode. For this one, they had to work in pairs. Kenji was teamed up with Dustin. Todd with Jessica. Paul with Ben. Akeela with Cheryl.
In this challenge, they had to load up a truck with tires, wood, ladders, insulation and other work materials. Then, drive it through a bumpy dirt road without any of it falling off. If anything fell off the truck, they had to get out and put it back on the truck, wasting valuable time. At the end, they had to load all the materials onto a pallet to complete the challenge. They did 3 heats for this challenge.
In the first heat, Jessica & Todd went up against Kenji & Dustin. Jessica & Todd won. In the 2nd heat, Cherly & Akeela went up against Ben & Paul. Ben and Paul won.
In the 3rd heat, Dustin & Kenji went up against Akeela & Cheryl to decide which two would go into the Overtime challenge. Dustin & Kenji won. So, Akeela and Cherly had to do the Overtime challenge. It was revealed that Ben and Paul had the fastest time. So, they won $6,000 dollars, which they split for $3,000 dollars each.
In the Overtime challenge, Cheryl and Akeela had to transport heavy buckets of concrete through an obstacle course that featured a tough balance beam. Then, fill up a container with the concrete high enough until it crossed a red line on the container.
At one point, Cheryl fell on the balance beam, but she got right back up and kept going. Ultimately, Akeela won it. So, Cheryl was eliminated from the individual competitions.
Cheryl told the private cams, “I’m proud of myself for what I’ve achieved.
