First off, we’ve got an official title for tonight’s new, November 17, 2023 episode 8 of Dateline NBC season 46. It’s called, “The One That Got Out.”
In tonight’s new, November 17, 2023 episode 8,the 20/20 team will take a deep look at a story about two women named Melissa Ramirez and Claudine Luera. They were both found murdered and abandoned on the outskirts of Laredo, Texas.
The investigators who worked the case found terrifying similarities between the two crime scenes, which implied that a serial killer was out on the loose. The investigation led to them finding out that the culprit was actually one of their own, which was border patrol supervisor Juan David Ortiz. He was actually assisting with the case before he ended up making a startling confession after being interrogated for nine hours. ABC News correspondent John Quinones handled the reporting duties for this case and episode.
This episode features interviews with: Texas Ranger EJ Salinas, who helped crack the case, as well as Elva Enriquez, the mother of one of the victims, and Erika Quiroz, Melissa’s best friend.
This episode also includes additional interviews with family members of the victims and District Attorney Isidro Alaniz and Capt. Federico Calderon of Webb County Sheriff’s Department, who provided critical insight into the investigation and trial of Ortiz.

ABC’s press release confirmed that the next, new episode 8 of 20/20’s current season 46 is indeed scheduled to hit the air tonight, November 17, 2023, starting at approximately 8 pm central standard time. Tonight’s new episode will be a 2-hour event. So, expect it to wrap up at 10 pm central standard time.
