ABC was nice enough to deliver an official press release for tonight’s new episode 30. So, we will certainly break it down for you in this preview session. Let’s get to it.
First thing’s first. This new episode 30 is officially named/titled, “Follow the Fingerprints.” In tonight’s new episode 30, the 20/20 team will take a deep look at a story about a man named Leo Schofield. He spent over three decades in prison for being convicted of killing his first wife Michelle Schofield.
However, his second wife thinks he’s completely innocent, and some new developments in his case have popped up since his conviction, which appear to side with Leo’s claims of innocence. In April 2024, Leo was finally released from prison on parole, and he’s fighting to clear his name of the crime.
American journalist John Quinones handled the reporting duties for this episode and case. It includes interviews with: Scott Cupp, a judge who stepped down from the bench so he could represent Leo in his fight for exoneration; Gilbert King, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author who documented Leo’s case in a podcast; and Leo’s family, including his current wife, Crissie Carter Schofield, who led the charge to get him out of prison, and his daughter Ashley Schofield.
ABC’s official description for tonight’s new episode 30 of 20/20 season 46 reads like this, “Leo Schofield spent over three decades serving a prison sentence for the brutal murder of his young wife, Michelle Schofield. “20/20” documents the significant developments in the case since his conviction, including the identification of fingerprints found inside Michelle’s car, belonging to a convicted killer who lived in the area and would later confess to the crime.
Now, in April of 2024, following nationwide attention to his case, Leo was released from prison on parole. For two years, “20/20″ has reported on Leo’s legal journey and gives an inside look at the ongoing battle to clear his name and his new life following his release from prison.”
An alternate description tells us, “AFTER THREE DECADES IN PRISON, ’20/20′ DOCUMENTS A MAN’S FIGHT FOR FREEDOM. This Episode Includes Exclusive Look at Leo Schofield’s Homecoming with His Wife, Daughter and Grandsons.
