MasterChef September 4 Eliminated Kimberly, Hallie, Horacio & Warren (Recap)

Hey, “MasterChef” fans. Tonight, September 4, 2024, another two, new episodes for MasterChef’s current season 14 did indeed hit the air with judges: Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez, and Joe Bastianich, and we saw a whopping 4 contestants get the boot when these episodes all wrapped up.

The first episode kicked off with the remaining contestants learning they had to do another mystery box challenge. The boxes were filled with only hot and spicy ingredients. They had to make a restaurant quality dish with at least three of the hot and spicy items. This was a double elimination challenge. They were given 45 minutes to do it. Hot Ones’ TV show host Sean Evans showed up to be a guest judge for this challenge.

Kamay didn’t have to do this challenge because got immunity after winning her last challenge. She also got to take 5 minutes away from one of the contestants, and she chose to take 5 minutes away from Becca at the 30 minute mark. So, Becca couldn’t start back cooking until the 25 minute mark.

During this challenge, Adam told Gordon and Sean he’s making a jerk chicken dish. Horacio told Gordon and Sean he’s making a chicken salad dish. Becca told Aaron and Joe he’s making a nut crusted halibut dish. Hallie told Gordon and Sean he’s making a spicy chicken dish.

Murt said he’s making a spicy pork chop dish. Michael told Joe and Aaron he’s making a shrimp and grits dish. Kimberly told Gordon and Sean he’s making a spicy chicken sandwich dish. When the time was up, Becca said she felt happy about her dish, considering her 5 minute disadvantage. However, she would have felt more confident with the extra 5 minutes.

From there, the judges took a look at all the dishes, and revealed the best dishes belonged to Murt, Michael and Adam. Murt presented a seared pork chop dish. Gordon said, “It looks beautiful. It’s cooked beautifully. Well done.” Aaron said, “The sauce is great.” Sean said, “You did a great job with the heat.”

Michael presented a hot honey shrimp and grits dish. Joe said, “This is the most restaurant worthy dish.” Gordon said, “It’s incredible. Very well done on the shrimp.” Aaron said, “This is a top dish.” Sean said, “It’s a flawless dish.”

Adam presented a jerk chicken thigh dish. Gordon said, “It looks delicious.” Sean said, “This might be the best cornbread I’ve ever had.” Gordon said, “It’s a very smart dish.” Joe said,”This is a delicious and properly cooked dish.” After all of that, the judges decided that Adam had the best dish.

Next, the judges revealed that Hallie, Kimberly and Warren had the worst dishes. Hallie presented a spicy fried chicken dish. Joe said,”The chicken was overcooked.” Sean said,”It’s dry and hot. Like eating spicy sand.” Gordon said, “It needs something to lift this dish up.”

Kimberly presented a spicy fried chicken sandwich dish. Gordon said, “It has no heat whatsoever. The chicken is dry.” Sean said, “I didn’t hate the slaw.” Joe said, “The only thing good was the bun, and you didn’t make it.”

Warren presented a Brazilian fish stew dish. Joe said, “It’s overcooked.” Gordon said, “It needs more time.” Sean said, “You held back with this. It needs more life.”

After all of that, the judges decided that Kimberly and Hallie had the worst dishes, and they were eliminated. Gordon told Kimberly, “The chicken sandwich was overcooked.” Gordon told Hallie, “You got caught short on the cook of the chicken.” Hallie told the private cams,”I’m proud of myself. This was the best experience of my life.” Kimberly told the private cams, “It’s been a wonderful experience. Truly amazing.”

The second episode kicked off with the contestants learning they had to do the wall challenge. It paired two people together to try and make an identical dish while being separated by a giant wall. This was another double elimination challenge. The two people eliminated didn’t have to be on the same team either. They were given 60 minutes to complete it.

Since Adam had the best dish in the last challenge, he got to pick who he was paired with, and he chose Michael. The others got to choose who they were paired with. Rebecka paired with Kamay. Murt paired with Becca. Warren paired with Horacio.

During this challenge, Becca told Gordon she was making a pork shop dish, but she forgot to get the lemons. Rebecka told Gordon she’s making a sea bass dish. At one point, it was revealed that Horacio messed up his side of the dish. He did eventually make some sort of a correction to it.

After the 60 minutes was up, Horacio said, “I think the sauce was too over the top.” Kamay said she didn’t feel real confident about her and Rebecka’s dishes.

Becca and Murt presented their dish first. It was a spice rubbed seared pork chop dish. Gordon said, “It looks delicious. It was almost like you were handcuffed to the same stove. They’re almost identical. They’re beautifully cooked. The porkchop is cooked beautifully. The puree is delicious. Well done.” Aaron said,”It’s very impressive.” Joe said, “These are really special dishes.”

Kamay and Rebecka presented a striped sea bass dish. Joe said,”This could be in my restaurant.” Gordon said,”It’s cooked beautifully. The vinaigrette needs more acidity. These are two really good dishes.” Aaron said, “Everything is good except for the vegetables. Good job.”

Horacio and Warren presented a Crispy-Skin Trout with Creamy Polenta, Asparagus, Balsamic Endive and Beurre Blanc Sauce dish. Gordon said,”These are two completely different plates. The fish is a touch overcooked. Horacio’s trout is cooked beautifully, but too rich.” Aaron said it’s broken. A huge mistake. It’s inedible.” Joe said, “Your inability to judge each other’s cooking levels is an error. There were a lot of technical cooking errors on both dishes.”

Adam and Michael presented a pan seared New York strip dish. Joe said,”I expected something a little more cutting edge from you two.” Gordon said, “Michael’s steak is a perfect medium rare.” Adam’s steak is a tad under medium rare and undercooked. Michael’s steak is cooked to perfection.” Aaron said,”Michael’s puree is great.” Joe said, “Michael did three dishes better than Adam.”

After all of that, the judge decided that Becca and Murt had the best dishes. Kamay and Rebecka were also safe and into the top 6. They decided that Horacio and Warren had the worst dishes. So, they were both eliminated. Gordon told them, “The mistakes started even before you started to cook.” Warren said,”This is one of the most amazing things I’ve done in my life.” Horacio said, “I feel totally rewarded to make the top 8.”
