FBI New Season 9 Is Happening. CBS Renewed It

Tonight, May 18, 2026, CBS is going to air the 21st episode of its current season 8, and it will be the finale episode. So, we did track down whether or not CBS did renew the series for a brand new season 9. We’re happy to confirm with you guys that CBS did indeed renew FBI for a new season 9.

According to the folks over at Deadline.com , CBS actually renewed FBI for a new season 9 a long, long time ago back in April of 2024.

Yep, at the time, they gave it a 3-season renewal deal just before season 6 had wrapped up. So, they were very confident with the show’s performance.

During the renewal announcement back then, the president of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach had some wonderful things to say about the FBI franchise stating, “The All-FBI Tuesday is a powerful force to be reckoned with on our primetime schedule.

Dick Wolf and the talent in front of and behind the camera on all three series continue to deliver top-notch storytelling, riveting action and intrigue that has captivated a dedicated fanbase steadily across multiple seasons. We are excited to see what next season holds for all these heroic characters.”

FBI’s executive producer Dick Wolf stated, “Obviously, I’m thrilled by the pickups. We are all extremely grateful to George Cheeks and Amy Reisenbach and their entire team.”

Currently, it is not yet known when the new season 9 will premiere or how many episodes it will feature. However, we’re guessing that it will debut in the Fall 2026 sometime.

According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, FBI season 8 averaged 4.599 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.26 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics.
