Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay Revealed Vanessa Grimaldi Did Some Mean Offensive Stuff To Her
According to a new report from Entertainment Tonight, there’s some major drama that went on between Bachelor contestants from Nick Viall’s season.
The two contestants are Vanessa Grimaldi (above right) who ultimately ended up getting the final rose from Nick and Rachel Lindsay (above left) who finished in third place but went on to be the new Bachelorette for ABC’s latest installment of “The Bachelorette.”
They’re reporting that recent “Bachelor In Paradise” star Danielle Lombard revealed in a Reddit AMA that Vanessa called Rachel something very bad when they were filming “The Bachelor” stating, “Vanessa called Rachel something that was extremely derogatory. From what I heard it was bad. Vanessa had to be separated for the rest of the show.”
She also said “Vanessa stabbed me in the back. Then she tried to do something similar to Rachel later on.”
After that, Entertainment Tonight spoke with Rachel to get the full scoop on this drama that went down between her and Vanessa. Rachel did back up Danielle’s claim by saying that Vanessa pulled her aside and called her a bully and said her tone was too aggressive and what not.
Rachel stated, “Vanessa told me that I used ‘aggressive’ tones with her, and I was very upset by that. There are so many stereotypes placed on African-American women. She called me a ‘bully’, and for her to use that phrase was offensive to me. She had no examples to match it. I also felt as a special education teacher who works with children, she was using the word frivolously.”
Rachel went on to explain that she tried to give Vanessa the opportunity to take back those statements after telling her that she felt uncomfortable around her. Rachel said Vanessa never took back those words or gave her an apology. If that’s not enough, Rachel also claims Vanessa went and told Nick she was a bully stating, “Vanessa told me, ‘No, you’re a bully, and I told Nick that.'”
After that, Rachel told them that she had the producers keep her and Vanessa separated. She said it was an assassination of her character and also talked to Nick about it. At the end of day, she just let it go. She stated, “This was an assassination on my character. After I’ve faced uphill battles for my entire life and worked to prove myself in my career. I told Nick, ‘I’m going to let bygones be bygones.'”
Rachel went on to say that she never mentioned the details of what took place between her and Vanessa until now because she was busy getting ready to do The Bachelorette show at the time. And of course Vanessa was getting engaged to Nick.
Their argument never made the air. Rachel is not sure why. She speculates that maybe it was because “at the end, the show is more about relationships than any drama, or because they didn’t know how the audience would take each side of things. What Vanessa said was offensive.”
Vanessa has since split up with Nick. Rachel is currently still trying to date her fiance Bryan Abasolo who she gave her final rose to during her Bachelorette season. It’ll be interesting to see how long that last considering she lives in Dallas,TX and he lives in Miami, Florida.
Hey, maybe The Bachelor and Bachelorette shows should try casting contestants that live in closer proximity to their main star. Maybe they might get a better track record that way. Just a thought.
