‘Survivor’ April 1, 2020 Voted Out Wendell Holland (Recap)
Hey, “Survivor” fans. Tonight, April 1, 2020, another new episode of season 40: “Winners At War” did indeed air, and another past winner got ousted in sort of a blindside manner.
Tonight’s episode kicked off with more “Edge Of Extinction” footage. A lot of talk about fire tokens took place. At one point, Rob told the private cams that Amber agreed to give him one of her fire tokens so he can get back into the game if he wins one more fire token.
Back in the real game, Jeff Probst showed up to tell the tribes they are finally merging! Then the “Edge of Extinction” cast-offs returned. Jeff asked them a few questions about their experiences so far.
Then the “Edge Of Extinction” cast-offs did a “return to the game” challenge. In the challenge, they had to untie three bags of sticks. Then they had to dig up a string except for Rob, Ethan, Natalie, Tyson and Danni.
They didn’t have to dig up a string because they got an advantage from their winnings on “Edge Of Extinction.” The string was just already their waiting for them, and it proved to give them a lot of extra time in the challenge.
Once they got their string, they had to use it to tie bamboo sticks together until they got it long enough to reach and retrieve a set of hanging keys. Once they got the keys, they used them to unlock a gate.
Once they got through the gate, they had to maneuver a ball through an apparatus maze until they could get the ball to drop through a whole that was located at the very top of it. It came down to Tyson and Rob, and Tyson just edged out Rob to win his way back into the game!
After all of that, Jeff told the remaining “Edge Of Extinction” cast-offs, they would be given one last chance to get back into the game later this season.
Next, the merged tribemembers got to enjoy a big food feast. Denise told everyone how she ousted Sandra from the game with her immunity idol shenanigans. Sophie implied to the private cams that Denise could be a possible target since she’s already built up a resume out there.
Wendell told the private cams he thinks he can work with Jeremy. Jeremy thought likewise of Wendelll. Jeremy told the private cams he wanted to get rid of Nick so he can be Wendell’s new right hand man.
Tyson and Ben started talking about getting rid of some of the lower profile players to keep the bigger profile players from continuing to get ousted. Ben relayed those ideas to Tony, and he totally agreed.
Wendell mentioned to the private cams he would like to get rid of Denise and anyone who’s playing a winner’s game right now. “I want to get them away from this island,” he said.
From there, we saw Jeff Probst show back up with the Immunity Challenge. He mentioned that the winner would also win a fire token.
There was also two winners for this immunity challenge, which was one woman and one man. The challenge was totally straight up. They had to hang on to a pole for dear friggin life. Also, rain was thrown on them to make it even harder to hang on. The last one hanging for the women and men, won.
Denise ended up winning for the women, and Jeremy won for the men. So, Jeremy and Denise were totally safe for this episode.
Jeremy immediately told the private cams he wanted to campaign for Nick to go, but to not make it obvious.
Jeremy, Tony and Ben started talking about getting rid of Nick. Tony and Ben brought up Wendell’s name in this same conversation, but Jeremy kept trying to save Wendell by telling them, “I think we can work with Wendell.”
At one point, Nick suggested Adam’s name to Jeremy. Wendell’s name was brought up by Sophie. Sophie started speculating how tight/close Wendell is with Jeremy. Ben when was seen noticing it too.
Again, Jeremy kept trying to save Wendell by campaigning for Adam to go instead of Nick. Denise said she could vote out Nick or Adam. “It doesn’t matter to me” she said.
At one point, Sophie told Adam, “You’re a target, but I’m voting out Wendell.” So, Adam started getting nervous, and he tried to talk to other people about what’s going on. Ben wouldn’t give him a straight answer. So, that frustrated Adam and made him more nervous heading into the tribal council meeting.
At the tribal council meeting, Tyson said he’s tightened up his game after getting voted off the first time.
Adam said “I’m still not sure how things will work out tonight. People did not want to talk.” Tony mentioned the things that got Tyson voted out earlier no longer exist. “It’s a different game now” he said. The rest was pretty much just general game talk.
Finally, the votes were casts. Adam ended up getting 3 votes, and Wendell got a whopping 7 votes. So, with those 7 votes, Wendell did indeed make his graceful exit. He took his L pretty well, telling everyone, “Good play, guys.”
Wendell gave his 2 fire tokens to Nick and Michele on his way out to “Edge Of Extinction.”
