NCIS Season 18, May 25, 2021 Episode 16 Is The Finale. Season 19 Is Happening
Hey, “NCIS” fans. We totally hope you guys enjoyed the heck out of tonight’s episode 16, especially since it was indeed the very last episode of this current season 18 of NCIS. Yes, it’s true, guys. NCIS season 18 did indeed wrap up tonight.
Like so many other shows, we think NCIS’ season 18 was cut short due to all the filming problems the terrible pandemic caused last year and this year.
However, with that said, we can officially tell you that the lovely folks over at CBS did indeed renew NCIS for a brand new season 19! That’s right, guys. You can officially expect to get blasted with a new round of NCIS episodes during the 2021/2022 season.
According to the folks over at TV Line, CBS made the NCIS season 19 renewal announcement back in mid-April 2021. So, it was sort of an early renewal.
One really interesting development was that the main star of NCIS Mark Harmon almost decided to quite the show since his contract was expiring this spring. However, Mark changed his mind when he found out that his exit would cause the whole series to get canceled and the loss of many jobs. Mark has signed on to be available for season 19 in a limited capacity role.
In addition to that pretty big news,TV Line also reported that season 19 will get a new season regular. Actress Katrina Law will be playing character Jessica Knight. Jessica is a NCIS REACT Special Agent. You may have already seen her in action, since at the time, TV Line reported that Jessica would show up in the final two episodes of season 18.
Jessica Knight is described as being a “formidable woman whose specialty is hostage negotiations. She was raised by a single mother, and is married to a stay-at-home dad who is raising their infant son. Jessica is also sharp, athletic, tough and fiercely tenacious. She also possesses a wry sense of humor.”
TV Line also reported that actress Maria Bello is exiting the show. Her character is forensic psychologist Jack Sloane. In the March 2 episode, Jack decided to stay in Afghanistan after completing an op to help out the local community.
Currently, it is unknown how many episodes NCIS’ new season 19 will feature. We’re guessing it will premiere this Fall 2021. We’ll have to wait until later this summer for CBS to announce more details for season 19.
NCIS season 18 averaged 9.485 million LIVE viewers per episode and a 0.82 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 15, which aired last Tuesday night, May 18, 2021, drew in 8.300 million LIVE viewers and a 0.70 ratings score.
The most-watched episode was episode 1 with 10.353 million LIVE viewers. The least-watched episode was episode 15 with 8.300 million LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episode was episode 6 with a 0.97 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 12 with a 0.60 ratings score. Again, those numbers were definitely good enough for CBS to give NCIS a new season 19. So, that is terrific news.
