Outlander Season 6, May 1, 2022 Episode 8 Is The Finale. Season 7 Is Happening
Hey, “Outlander” fans. We hope that tonight’s episode 8 of Outlander’s current season 6 was absolutely terrific for you guys, and we also hope you savored it well because it will be the last episode that you’re going to see for this current season 6. That’s right, guys. For those of you who didn’t know, episode 8 was indeed the season finale episode of this season 6.
However, we can officially confirm with you guys, right now, that Outlander is getting a brand new season 7 from the STARZ network! So, your favorite show will be back in action with all new episodes at some point in the future.
The folks over at TVLine.com actually reported this news in March of 2021. So, STARZ had already renewed Outlander for a new season 7 way before season 6 even got underway.
In that TVLine report, they also revealed some information about the season 7 episode count. Apparently, STARZ is giving Outlander a little bit of an episode bump with 12 episodes instead of just the 8 episodes that season 6 featured. These 12 new episodes will be based on the novel titled, “An Echo In The Bone” by author Diana Gabladon.
This particular novel chronicles Bree and Roger’s life after they and their kids return to the 20th century, where they encounter someone else who has time-traveled to that era. Back in Ye Olden Times, Claire, Jamie and Jamie’s now-grown son William become embroiled in the Revolutionary War. At least two established characters die, a few new ones are introduced, someone is presumed dead and Lord John takes drastic measures to keep Claire safe, which creates a whole new set of problems.
During the season 7 renewal announcement, Outlander’s showrunner Matt Roberts made a statement about season 7 saying, “We are so excited Starz has given us the opportunity to continue the epic Outlander journey. We can’t wait to get into the writers’ room and start breaking Echo in the Bone and look forward to giving the fans another season of this exhilarating story.”
TVLine also pointed that STARZ has confirmed that Outlander stars: Caitriona Balfe aka Claire, Sam Heughan aka Jamie, Sophie Skelton aka Brianna and Richard Rankin aka Roger will be returning for season 7.
Outlander season 6 averaged 534,000 LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.04 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 7, which aired last Sunday night, April 24, 2022, drew in 469,000 LIVE viewers, and a 0.02 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was the premiere episode 1 with 641,000 LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 7 with 469,000 LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episode was episode 3 with a 0.06 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 7 with the 0.02 ratings score.
