Survivor October 5, 2022 Voted Off Nneka Ejere (Recap)
Hey, “Survivor” fans. Tonight, October 5, 2022, another new episode for Survivor’s current season 43 did indeed hit the air, and another unlucky contestant got voted off the island at the end.
Tonight’s episode kicked off with the Vesi tribe talking about their last tribal council meeting, which sent Justine Brennan packing. Cody revealed to the private cams that he collected beads from all his tribemembers just in the nick of time to keep his vote and activate his idol advantage.
Jesse told the private cams, “I feel best with Cody and Nneka.” Dwight told Noelle that he feels iffy about working with Jesse now.
Over at the Baka tribe, Elie told the private cams, “I want Mike Gabler to go next.” So, she came up with some sort of plan to try and trick Gabler into thinking is immunity idol was no longer good. She told Sami and Jeanine about her plans to work Gabler over.
It turns out that she shouldn’t have told Sami because ran back and told Gabler everything Elie is doing to work against him. He told him how they went through his bag to read his idol rules and everything. Gabler told the private cams that Elie is on his hitlist now. So, when Elie approached him, he made her think they were able to trick him into thinking his idol no longer works, and he told Owen, “We’ve gotta get Elie out.”
Next, we got footage Karla over at the Coco tribe. She went searching for a hidden immunity idol, and she found a beware advantage, but she initially decided not to open it to protect her game. However, she thought about it and went back to get it. It contained an idol with the same stipulations as Cody’s.
She had to persuade all her tribemembers to give her some of their beads before their next tribal council meeting to activate the idol. If she failed to complete the task, she lost her vote at their next tribal council meeting. So, Karla went to work to start collecting the beads from each of the members in her tribe, and she did it by trading other things for their beads when she needed to. So, she was able to activate her immunity idol and keep her vote.
After all of that, host Jeff Probst showed up with the new Immunity Challenge, which doubled as a Reward challenge once again. During it, they had to swim out to buoys with keys attached to them and release them. Then, they had to use the keys to release puzzle pieces and complete the puzzle for the completion.
The Baka tribe finished in first place, and the Coco tribe finished second. That means the Vesi tribe was the losing tribe once again, and they had to figure out who to vote off next.
The reward consisted of a large survivor toolkit and fruit for the first place finishers. The second place finishers got a smaller survivor toolkit and a smaller amount of fruit.
Since the Baka tribe won the challenge, they got to choose who to send to the mountain for the vote-risking twist. They chose Noelle from the Vesi tribe, James from the Coco and Owen from their own tribe.
Nneka told the private cams she let her tribe down because she couldn’t complete the puzzle at the end. Nneka and Noelle’s name came up as targets. Cody and Jesse went back and forth with it because Nneka is part of their alliance, but she’s weak at challenges.
Noelle, James and Owen went to the mountain where they were presented with the opportunity to risk their vote for an advantage. James and Owen talked about it with Noelle, and they decided to let Noelle get the advantage. Needless to say, Noelle expressed how grateful she was because she knew she was definitely in jeopardy of getting voted off.
Noelle came back and lied to her tribe about risking her vote to get the advantage. However, she did tell Dwight about it because she’s close with him and trusts him. She revealed that the advantage allows her to steal a vote at tribal council. She contemplated possibly stealing Jesse’s vote.
At the Vesi tribal council meeting, they just talked about general game play. Nothing crazy went down. Then, they casts their votes. Noelle got 1 vote, and Nneka got 3 votes. So, with the 3 votes, it was Nneka’s time to go. She was a good sport and gave everyone a hug on the way out. She told the private cams, “It was a really cool blindside. I’m so glad I got to play Survivor. I’m so grateful for this experience.”
