The Bachelor February 27, 2023 Eliminated Jess & Aly (Recap)
Hey, Bachelor Nation fans. Tonight, February 27, 2023, another new episode of The Bachelor 2023 edition with headliner Zach Shallcross did indeed make its way to the air, and we saw another couple of women get sent packing at the end of it, and one of the exits was pretty dramatic to say the least.
Tonight’s episode kicked off with some footage of host Jesse Palmer telling Zach that Greer had fallen ill. Zach told told Jesse, “I want Greer to get as healthy as possible and to not stress about it.” After that, Zach told Jesse some of the qualities he likes most about his remaining women. He mentioned that he hasn’t really gotten to know Jess that well yet because she still seems afraid to fully open up.
Next, Charity was seen getting the 1 on 1 date card, which said, “Let’s make up for lost time.” For those of you just joining in on the season, that was because Zach and Charity were supposed to have a 1 on 1 date over in London, but they couldn’t go because Zach caught Covid over there.
Jess got real upset when she didn’t get the 1 on 1 date card and started crying. Some of the women tried to console her. Just before Zach took Charity out for the 1 on 1 date, Kathrine pulled Zach aside to tell him, “I just miss you, and I wanted to say hi to you before you left.” Zach said, “I appreciate you taking initiative,” and they hugged and kissed.
Brooklyn ended up confronting Katherine about pulling Zach aside just before he was about to take Charity out on their 1 on 1 date. She told her, “That wasn’t the best time to pull Zach because he came here to see Charity.” Katherine took offense to it and clapped back at her saying, “I don’t think you have the right to tell someone what they should or shouldn’t do.”
Brooklyn said, “It’s just my opinion, and you don’t have to accept it.” If smoke could’ve came out of their ears like in cartoons, I think it would have because it got pretty heated between these two ladies. Brooklyn told the private cams, “Katherine was totally disrespectful.” Katherine told the private cams, “I totally felt attacked by Brooklyn.”
During Zach and Charity’s 1 on 1 date, he took her on a carriage ride to kick things off. Then, they participated in a wife-carrying competition that required Zach to carry Katherine through an obstacle course. Afterwards, they kissed in front of everyone. From there, they proceeded to get something to eat, and they kissed again. Charity told the private cams, “Zach is the best.”
During the second half of their date, Charity and Zach talked for a bit. She told him, “My past relationship was emotionally abusive. There was 7 occurrences of infidelity and a vicious cycle of manipulation. I’m ashamed that I was ever in that position, but going through that has made me the person I am today.”
Zach said, “I also lost myself in a previous relationship. I think you are pretty awesome for opening up,” and they kissed. Zach told the private cams, “It feels good with Charity, and I can’t believe she was ever treated so badly.” He gave her a rose, and they kissed again. Charity told the private cams, “Everything I’ve ever wanted in a man has shown up. I can definitely see a future with Zach.”
Next, a new date card revealed that Brooklyn, Kaity, Katherine, Gabi, Aly and Jess were selected for the next group date. Jess started crying again when she did’t get the second 1 on 1 date card. The other women tried to console her once again. Jess told the private cams, “I could be going home. I’m just scared.”
Brooklyn and Katherine were seen having another very intense argument because Brooklyn felt the need to keep confronting Katherine. During the group date, Zach took the women to see an Estonian witch. She had Zach use sage to perform some sort of cleansing ritual with the women. She also had Zach hold a candle up with each of the women and stare into each other’s eyes. Jess’ candle went out during her session, and that certainly didn’t help with her growing insecurities. Jess kept telling the private cams, “I’m really struggling with my confidence.”
At the group date afterparty, Zac talked 1 on 1 with Kaity. She told him, “I feel like I’m a kid when I’m around you. I smile so much when I see you. I’ve been picturing my future with you, and it feels good,” and they kissed. Zach talked with Gabi. Zach told her,”I missed you a lot.” Gabi said, “I missed you too.” Zach said, “I don’t want you to worry because I have butterflies with you.” Gabi said, “Awe, I love that. I can see you in my life forever,” and they kissed.
Zach talked with Jess, and their conversation did not go well at all. Jess told Zach she that she hasn’t been feeling very confident, and she kept complaining about not getting a 1 on 1 date yet to the point that Zach tried to tell her it’s not about the 1 on 1. “There are no set rules here,” he said.
Jess said, “I know that you think the 1 on 1 isn’t the most important thing, but it’s a big deal to me, and I just don’t know where your head is at.” Then, Zach said, “I have to be completely honest with you. I’m not feeling very confident about us right now.” Jess said,”I’m not going to fight for you or beg you. I’m just not.” Then, Zach walked her out to send her home, telling her, “I wish this could’ve been different.” Zach told the private cams, “This was not at all what I expected to see happen with Jess.”
Zach told the rest of the ladies, “There was just this huge disconnect between Jess and I, and I had to send her home. I’m still just trying to wrap my head around it. I won’t be giving out a group date rose tonight.” Zach told the private cams, “Sending Jess home was the best thing for the both of us.”
Next, we got footage of Zach and Ariel’s 1 on 1 date. He took her to a sauna for a spa day. It was a nude sauna, but they decided to at least wear some bathing suits. Another couple did show up, and they were nude. So, that was awkward. However, the nude couple was an older couple, and they ended up giving Zach and Ariel some relationship advice. Later, Zach and Ariel talked in a hot tub at one point and ended up kissing. Zach told the private cams, “I feel like I can be myself around Ariel.”
During the second half of their date, Zach told Ariel, “I loved the hell out of our date today. It blew me away.” They both agreed that they didn’t want to lose themselves in a relationship. Zach said, “I care for who you are and what you bring to the table. I’m excited about us,” and they kissed. Zach told the private cams, “Our date far exceeded my expectations.” Zach told Ariel, “You might be the best surprise yet, and he gave her a rose,” and they kissed again.
During the cocktail party, Zach talked with Aly. Aly told him, “Time with you has made this difficult journey worth it,” and they kissed. Zach talked with Gabi, and they kissed. Zach talked with Brooklyn. She told him, “You’ve done a great job handling all of this,” and they kissed. Zach talked with Kaity. They talked about how they both dig each other, and they kissed.
Charity pulled Katherine aside to talk about her move on Zach earlier. They seemed to be having a civilized conversation about it until Brooklyn decided came up and confront Katherine yet again. This time, Katherine wasn’t going for it at all. She immediately walked off and told Charity, “We can talk about this later. I’m not talking to Brooklyn.” Katherine told some of the other women that Brooklyn tried to start drama with her again, and she wasn’t lying.
Zach talked with Katherine at one point. He told her, “Things felt a little off at the group date.” Katherine said, “Things weren’t off for me. I want you to know that I value every single minute of our time together.” Zach said, “It was just a feeling, and I’ll always be honest with you.”
Finally, at the rose ceremony, Zach gave: Gabi, Kaity, Brooklyn and Katherine a rose to join Charity and Ariel who received roses earlier in this episode. That meant that poor Aly did not get a rose and had to join Jess who was eliminated earlier in this episode. Zach walked Aly out and gave her a hug goodbye. Aly told the private cams, “I thought Zach was incredible and had all the qualities to be my person. This hurts so much.” And that was tonight’s show, guys.
The next, new episode of The Bachelor 2023 edition is scheduled to air next Monday night, March 6, 2023 at approximately 7 pm central standard time on CBS.
