Law & Order SVU Season 24 May 18, 2023 Episode 22 Is The Finale. Season 25 Is Happening
Hey, “Law & Order:Special Victims Unit” fans. We hope you guys thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of episode 22 ,tonight, especially since it will certainly be the last one you’re getting for quite some time. Yep, guys. Tonight’s episode 22 was the finale episode of Law & Order: SVU’s current season 24. So, season 24 is officially a wrap as of tonight, May 18, 2023.
Here’s some good news for you though. We can officially tell you that NBC did renew Law & Order: SVU for a brand new season 25. According to the folks over at TVLine.com , this renewal happened kind of early.
NBC renewed it back in April 2023. They also renewed all of the Law & Order shows. So the original Law & Order and Law & Order: OC will be back with new seasons as well. We can’t tell you when, right now, especially with this writers strike threatening to push back production dates if it doesn’t get cleared up real soon.
Law & Order: SVU creator Dick Wolf had some very positive words to say during the renewal announcement stating, “I’m pleased to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC. All six shows being picked up again is the ultimate accolade to our incredible casts, producers and writers. I’d also like to thank our loyal fans who have kept our NBC shows on the air for what will be a cumulative 84 seasons.”
According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, Law & Order: SVU averaged 4.725 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.56 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 21, which aired last Thursday night, May 11, 2023, managed to draw in 4.238 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.45 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was episode 12 with 5.774 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 6 with 3.904 million LIVE viewers. The highest-rated episode was the premiere episode 1 with a 0.69 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 20 with a 0.43 ratings score.
If you tack on the numbers from the streaming platforms, the average episode viewership numbers jump to 7.1 million viewers, and the average ratings score jumps to a 1.0 score. So, those are some great numbers. It’s no surprise that NBC gave Law & Order: SVU an early renewal.
