MasterChef September 18 Winner Revealed In Finale Episode (Recap)

Hey, “MasterChef” fans. Tonight, September 18, 2024, the finale episode of MasterChef’s current season 14 did indeed hit the air with judges: Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez and Joe Bastianich, and we finally found out who won this thing at the very end.

Tonight’s new, finale episode kicked off with the three final three contestants: Becca, Kamay and Michael showing up to a LIVE studio audience that included formerly eliminated contestants from this season along with friends and family members.

After all of that, Becca, Michael and Kamay had to make a restaurant-quality three course meal as their final challenge. It consisted of an appetizer, an entree and dessert. They started with the appetizers and had 60 minutes to complete it.

During this round, Michael revealed that he’s making a pasta dish. Becca revealed that she’s making a salmon dish. Kamay revealed that she’s making a spicy soup dish. At one point, Becca said she ran into trouble with not getting her pan hot enough to get her salmon skin crispy, and she actually started it all over again with just 15 minutes left to go! She said it had to be perfect.

After the 60 minutes was up, Becca presented a Crispy Skin Salmon with Braised Leeks, Tomato Water, Basil Oil and Crispy Basil Leaves dish. Gordon said, “It looks elegant. The salmon is cooked beautifully.” Aarón said, “This dish lacks depth of flavor, and the tomato water was non-impactful.”

Kamay presented a Habanero Squash Soup with Poached Lobster Tail, Pickled Rainbow Chard and Caviar dish. Gordon said, “The lobster is cooked beautifully, but I wish it was inside the soup.” Aarón said, “The soup could have used some creaminess and lemon. “Joe said, “The lobster and butternut squash soup together is “magical.”

Michael presented a Truffle Tortellini with Mint & Pea Puree, Preserved Lemon Vinaigrette, Asparagus and Wild Mushrooms dish. Gordon said, “It shows technical flare beyond belief.” Joe said, “You showed a lot of skill with each component of this dish.” Gordon said, “The tortellini is delicious, but it doesn’t need so much truffle.” Aarón said, “The magic is in the brown butter, and the pea puree is spectacular.” Joe said, “It’s a really good dish, but I would have left the vinaigrette off of it.”

Next, the contestants started on their entrees. They were given 60 minutes to complete them. During this round, Becca said she’s making a lamb dish. Kamay said she’s making a striped bass dish. Micheal said he’s making a rack of venison dish. Kamay ran into some trouble forming her croquettes at one point.

After the time was up, Kamay presented a Pan-Seared Striped Bass with Passion Fruit Sauce, Soy Glazed Squash, Sweet Potato Croquettes and Avocado Mousse dish. Gordon said, “The fish is cooked beautifully, but the passion fruit did not work.” Aarón said, “The sauce is really aggressive.” Joe said, “I like everything except the passion fruit sauce.”

Michael presented a Herb-Crusted Rack of Venison with Butternut Squash & Duck Fat Puree, Swiss Chard and Blackberry Wine Sauce dish. Gordon said,”The venison is cooked perfectly and the puree is “delicious.” Aarón said, “I love the sauce, but the venison needs salt. It’s expertly cooked, but the ratios are a little off.”

Becca presented a Herb-Crusted Lamb with Brown Butter Spaetzle, Bitter Greens and Fig Balsamic Reduction dish. Gordon said, “The lamb is a little overcooked, but the colors are beautiful.” Aarón said,”This dish has good texture, and the bitterness of the greens works. The lamb is properly seasoned.”

Next, Becca, Michael and Kamay got started on their desserts. They also had 60 minutes to complete it. During this round, Becca said she’s making a berry tart dish. Kamay said she’s making a strawberry shortcake dish. Michael said he’s making a peach cobbler-inspired dish.

At one point, Becca ran into some issues with her tart. She realized her oven didn’t get as hot as she thought, and she was worried that her tart shells wouldn’t get cooked all the way through. Becca also ran into issues with her mousse. She had problems getting it into the shell due to it being too frozen.

After the time was up, Becca presented a Berry Tart with Berry Gel, Berry Mousse, Pate Sucree, Mascarpone Whip and Candied Lemon dish. Gordon said,”It’s elegant, but the mousse looks broken. It tastes delicious though.” Aarón said, “I like that it’s simple and that you can taste each component.”

Michael presented a Deconstructed Peach Cobbler with White Chocolate Cake, Passion Fruit Zabaglione, Buttermilk Ice Cream, Streusel Crumble, Grilled Peaches and Passion Fruit Syrup dish. Gordon said, “All of these elements really do work together.” Aarón said, “I can taste your passion and heart in this dish, but the streusel could be cooked a bit longer.” Joe said, “You did a very good job with this dish.”

Kamay presented a Guava Rum Strawberry Shortcake with Tarragon Creme Diplomat dish. Gordon said, “The biscuits are savory and mix well with everything else that’s so sweet.” Aarón said, “The strawberries and cream are magic.” Joe said, “It’s good to eat, but simple compared to what Michael and Becca put forward.”

After all of that, the judges decided that Michael served up the best menu of the night. So, he is the new, 2024 MasterChef champion and will take home $250,000 dollars. How do you guys feel about that? Let us know in the comments section.
