Dateline NBC September 25 New Episode To Feature A Scandalous Shooting Death In Utah
According to NBC, they are officially scheduled to air a brand new, season 35, 2-hour premiere episode of their hit news/documentary series, “Dateline NBC” tonight, September 25, 2026, and it will feature a look at a story about a fatal shooting scandal that took place over in the Utah area.
According to NBC’s official press release information for this episode, the producers decided to name it, “The Family Plot.”
The preview intel from NBC’s episode description is telling us that the Dateline NBC team is going to take a deep look at a story about an American Fork, Utah man named Matt Restelli. He was fatally shot when he went over to his wife Kate’s mother’s house. The situation appeared to be self-defense at first. However, after further investigation, it got way more complicated as some very devious family drama was found to be taking place.
Correspondent Josh Mankiewicz handled the reporting duties for this episode and case. It will feature interviews with: Matt’s brothers Paul Restelli and Mark Restelli, Matt’s mother Diane Restelli, Kate’s sister/Tracey’s daughter Taralyn Fischer, Taralyn and Kate’s dad/Tracey’s ex-husband Stan Ellis.
Kate’s former friend Stephanie Slocombe, AFPD detective Joseph Nordin, prosecutor James Watabe, prosecutors Adam Pomeroy and David Brown, Kevin Ellis’s defense attorney Scott Williams and Tracey’s former best friend Teri Bishop.
Again, NBC’s press released confirmed that they are officially scheduled to air this brand new, season 35 premiere episode of Dateline NBC tonight, September 25, 2026 in the 8 pm central standard time slot. Again, it will be a 2-hour event. So, expect it to wrap up at 10 pm central time.
