The CW Cancels ‘Reaper’ TV Show
Along with “Everybody Hates Chris” and “The Game”, another show entitled “Reaper” gets the CW hatchet swung at it. The “Reaper” is a comedy / drama that started back in 2007. It starred Bret Harrison as Sam Oliver who’s soul was sold to the Devil by his parents before he was born so each week he has to carry out dangerous tasks for the Devil in an effort to send evil souls that have escaped from hell, back to it.
Ray Wise played the Devil character great. It was a very funny show. It had a Fall 2008 hietas, but was returned to the CW line up in March of 2009 and lasted until the show’s finale in May of 2009. The showed aired 31 episodes over that period of time.
There are currently reports going around that it could be saved by some other network, but it looks pretty bleak as some of the actors have already moved on and signed deals for other projects.I think it sucks that the “Reaper” and “The Game” tv shows were canceled. I really enjoyed them. However, the CW has added three new shows to it’s line up. I’m pretty excited about two of them. The shows are : “Vampire Diaries”,”Melrose Place”remake, and “The Beautiful Life”.
I don’t know too much about “The Beautiful Life” accept that it’s about the life of a high fashion model which doesn’t really tickle my fancy so to speak.
Update: 6-1-09 From ReaperDMV “Actually, the prospects for syndication and/or a cable deal aren’t looking bleak at all. Industry insiders confirm Hollywood Reporter’s article that ABC Studios is actively trying to sell Reaper. Syndication is a very real possiblity right now, but EVERYONE is recommending writing your affiliates! Help out! Click on my user profile or google “reaperdmv†to get all the details.
The feedback we’ve been getting from the affiliates has been quite positive, and despite “moving on†in reality the actors haven’t. Even Tyler has said he would be back if the show is renewed. And the creators made sure to retain involvement even with their new FOX contracts.”
We’ll see how it all plays out, I guess.
