Top movie critics give James Cameron ‘Avatar’ movie rave reviews. 20th Century Fox’s most anticipated film of the year, James Cameron’s “Avatar” finally released in theaters today. The top movie critics in the biz are giving it rave reviews with As and Bs across the board. However, it’s mostly As.
Ty Burr of the Boston Globe gave it an A-. He said, “It’s easy to get lost in the visually spectacular world .” Roger Ebert over at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a solid A rating. He stated that it was an “an extraordinary film.”
Michael Phillips from the Chicago Tribune gave it a B. He said, “The first 90 minutes of Avatar are pretty terrific — a full-immersion technological wonder with wonders to spare. The other 72 minutes, less and less terrific.”
E! Online’s Luke Y. Thompson gave it an A rating. He stated, that it was “an immersive epic unlike any other.”
Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly gave it a B. He said, “likely to leave audiences simultaneously amazed and unmoved.”
Bill Gibron from Filmcritic.com rated it an A,stating, “This is a sumptuous film, overflowing with detail and delicate touches which counteract the massive firepower and mechanical/animal menace on display.”
Kirk Honeycutt over at the Hollywood Reporter gave it an A. He said, “A titanic entertainment movie magic is back!”
Kenneth Turan from the Los Angeles Times gave it an A – . He said, “You’ve never experienced anything like it, and neither has anyone else.”
Lou Lumenick of the New York Post gave it another A -. He stated, “it’s rarely less than absorbing and never boring over its nearly three-hour length.”
Manohla Dargis at the New York Times gave it an A rating. She said, it was “glorious and goofy and blissfully deranged.”
Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers gave it an A -. He stated, “Cameron’s talent may just be as big as his dreams.” Amy Biancolli from the San Francisco Chronicle gave it a B. She said, it was “a monumental feast for the eyes.”

Too much unnecessary moralizing about mother earth and saving the planet. The special effects were great – but when will people get tired of being lectured to from the leftist pulpit?
