James Cameron to make ‘Avatar’ 2 and 3 movies. According to the Hollywood Reporter, director James Cameron has locked in deals with Fox to make two follow-up ‘Avatar” movies,and has revealed release dates,or years, rather.

They say that James has locked in a deal with Fox to make Avatar 2 and 3,and will be due out in theaters by December 2014 and December 2015,respectively. James stated, “It is a rare and remarkable opportunity when a filmmaker gets to build a fantasy world, and watch it grow, with the resources and partnership of a global media company. James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ movie tops the worldwide box office with 232 million. According to Reuters, James Cameron’s “Avatar” movie earned an estimated $232.2 million from North America and 106 foreign markets. However,it’s reported that the movie cost at least $300 million dollars to make,so it has a little ways to go to break even. I’m pretty sure it will, though. Avatar’s opening is the 9th biggest opening of all time.

“Avatar” made $73 million dollars in North America,alone,but they were looking to make $85 million so they fell a little short. The top foreign countries were Russia with $21 million, France with $19 million,and the U.K. with $14.2 million. The record for a worldwide opening was set by “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” back in July of this year with $394 million. “Twilight Saga: New Moon” had a $275 million opening last month. James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ movie delivered high tech adventure & a great story. 20th Century Fox’s most anticipated movie of the year, James Cameron’s “Avatar” finally hit theaters this weekend,and I must say it certainly did not disappoint.It filled the full 2 hours and 40 minutes with an awesome story,coupled with great special effects,action, and adventure.

The movie starred: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Peter Mensah, Laz Alonso, Wes Studi, Stephen Lang, and Matt Gerald

“Avatar” revolved around characters, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and the Navi, Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). Jake Sully is a crippled Marine who’s twin brother died while on a mission to Pandora. Top movie critics give James Cameron ‘Avatar’ movie rave reviews. 20th Century Fox’s most anticipated film of the year, James Cameron’s “Avatar” finally released in theaters today. The top movie critics in the biz are giving it rave reviews with As and Bs across the board. However, it’s mostly As.

Ty Burr of the Boston Globe gave it an A-. He said, “It’s easy to get lost in the visually spectacular world .” Roger Ebert over at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a solid A rating. He stated that it was an “an extraordinary film.”

Michael Phillips from the Chicago Tribune gave it a B. He said, “The first 90 minutes of Avatar are pretty terrific — a full-immersion technological wonder with wonders to spare. The other 72 minutes, less and less terrific.” Read the rest of this entry »
