Top critics gave Scott Pilgrim vs. The World movie very positive reviews. Universal Pictures released their new action,comedy flick “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” into theaters today,and the top movie critics were apparently pretty impressed with it,giving it very positive reviews with lots of A and B ratings. The movie stars: Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Alison Pill, Brandon Routh, and Jason Schwartzman.
Ty Burr from the Boston Globe gave it a B rating. He stated, “The movie is packed with characters and likable actors, and if you know the source it’s fun seeing how the filmmakers have cast to the cartoon.”
Michael Phillips from the Chicago Tribune gave it another B rating. He said, “It’s funny first and everything else second.” Owen Gleiberman at Entertainment Weekly gave it a B+. He said, “It’s a true original.”
Bill Gibron at Filmcritic.com gave it a smokin A rating. He stated, “definitely speaks its own language, bravely asking you to collaborate in the eventual translation.” Kirk Honeycutt at the Hollywood Reporter gave it a C-. He said, “What’s disappointing is that this is all so juvenile. Nothing makes any real sense.”
A.O. Scott from the New York Times gave it an A-. He said, “Its speedy, funny, happy-sad spirit is so infectious that the movie makes you feel at home in its world even if the landscape is, at first glance, unfamiliar.”
James Berardinelli at Reelviews gave it an A-. He said, “The comedy is light and airy and includes several laugh-aloud moments.” Peter Travers over at Rolling Stone gave it another A-. He stated, “a breathless rush of a movie that jumps off the screen, spins your head around and then stealthily works its way into your heart.”
