Top critics gave new ‘Faster’ movie mediocre reviews. CBS Films released their new action,thriller flick “Faster” into theaters today,and most of the top movie critics didn’t seem all that impressed with it,giving it pretty mediocre reviews. The movie stars: Dwayne Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton, Carla Gugino, Maggie Grace, Oliver Jackson-Cohen,and Moon Bloodgood.
Ty Burr at the Boston Globe gave it a B-. He said, “The Rock delivers a rush of cars and killing.” Roger Ebert at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a B-. He stated, “a pure thriller, all blood, no frills, in which a lot of people get shot, mostly in the head.”
Michael Phillips at the Chicago Tribune gave it a C. He said, “offers a few stray diversions, even if it plays like three TV crime drama pilots mistakenly scheduled in the same time slot.” Peter Paras at E! Online gave it a B-. He stated, “an unnecessary major character and some silly last-act twists and turns almost ruin the fun.”
Bill Gibron at Filmcritic.com gave it a B. He said, “like an ’80s slasher epic with the typical silent monster replaced by an angry, three dimensional human being.” Lou Lumenick at the New York Post gave it a D. He said, “desultory and silly.”
Stephen Holden at the New York Times gave it a C-. He said, “Fancy camera angles and changes in hue cannot camouflage its stumbling, blunt-force narrative style, in which plot turns are dropped like bricks.”
James Berardinelli at Reelviews a B-. He said, “a revenge thriller that’s more interested in delving into the dark parts of the human soul than it is in delivering carefully modulated doses of adrenaline and testosterone.”
Mick LaSalle at the San Francisco Chronicle gave it an F. He said, “A sure indication of the movie’s complete failure is that, when it’s over, it doesn’t feel over.” Claudia Puig at USA Today gave it a C.
