New Captain Phillips Movie Delivered Tons Of Great Suspense,Drama & More

New Captain Phillips movie delivered tons of great suspense, drama & more. Columbia Pictures (Sony) released their new drama/thriller flick, “Captain Phillips,” into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was phenomenal for the entire runtime, serving up major suspense, action, drama, and more. It stars: Tom Hanks, Catherine Keener, Barkhad Abdi, Max Martini, Yul Vazquez, Michael Chernus, Chris Mulkey, Corey Johnson, David Warshofsky, John Magaro, and Angus MacInnes.

The new flick is based on a true story of Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years. After getting hijacked, Richard has his crew, take precautionary measures not to be found by the pirates. Meanwhile, the pirates locate Richard in the cockpit to try and negotiate a deal for millions of dollars.

When Richard only offers them $30,000 and a life boat, all hell breaks loose, and the pirates eventually take Richard captive in the lifeboat. From there, they try to take him back to Somali in an attempt to negotiate a deal for the captain’s life. The U.S Navy is eventually called in to make an attempt to negotiate with the pirates. Then the U.S. Navy SEALs are called in to make sure the pirates don’t reach Somali if the negotiations weren’t successful.

After plans to negotiate with the pirates, falls short, a plan to execute a sniper attack on the pirates gets executed, leading to a very drama-filled and extremely suspenseful conclusion. Again, I really enjoyed watching this movie as it provided a ton of suspense from beginning to end. I was literally at the edge of my seat for the majority of the time, wondering what would happen, next. I gave the movie a great A+ grade. Stay tuned.
