‘Supergirl’ Season 5, May 17, 2020 Episode 19 Is The Finale. Renewed For Season 6

Hey, “Supergirl” fans. We are back with a brand new article for you guys. We’ve got some super good news and some very minimal bad news. The bad news is that your favorite show Supergirl is indeed ending it’s current season 5 with tonight’s new episode 19.

That’s right, guys. We’re quite sure that this awful pandemic mess struck the cast and crew of Supergirl because they usually spit out about 20-22 episodes a season. Whatever the case, this means that after tonight, you guys will definitely have to wait a while to see any more new episodes of Supergirl.

The super good news is that you will get to see new episodes of Supergirl at some point in the future because The CW renewed it for a brand new season 6! That’s right, guys. You’re going to get another full season of this wonderful show when they can finally start filming new episodes again.

According the folks over at TV Line, Supergirl actually got renewed quite early. The CW decided to renew a batch of their episodes all at one time at the beginning of this year.

Heck, they pretty much renewed all of their shows for new seasons. The renewal announcement happened in January 2020.

During it, The CW announced that they renewed The Flash, Riverdale, Supergirl, Black Lightning, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, All American, Charmed, Legacies, In the Dark, Roswell New Mexico, Batwoman, Nancy Drew, Dynasty and Katy Keene for new seasons.

If I’m not mistaken, that’s pretty much their entire line up with the exception of Supernatural, which decided to end their show.

So, that was some big news. During the renewal announcement, the president of The CW Mark Pedowitz had these nice words to say, “These early orders for next season give our production teams a head start in plotting out story arcs and a jump on hiring staff, and this also provides us with a strong foundation of established, fan-favorite CW shows to build on for next season.

We’ve been thrilled with the creative direction of all three new series, and even though we are in the very early stages of our new full stack streaming strategy, which allows viewers to catch up on our new shows from the beginning. Ee’re already seeing incredibly positive results from our multiplatform viewership for Nancy Drew and Batwoman.”

Season 5 of Supergirl managed to average around 847,000 LIVE viewers per episode and a 0.22 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The last episode 18 that aired on May 10, 2020 brought in around 619,000 LIVE viewers and a 0.10 ratings score.

The highest-viewed episode was episode 9 with 1.668 million LIVE viewers. The lowest-viewed episode was episode 17 with around 607,000 LIVE viewers.

The highest-rated episode was episode 9 with a 0.65 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 18 with a 0.10 ratings score. Overall, that was pretty strong numbers for a CW show. There’s no doubt that it would get killed on CBS,FOX,NBC and ABC. So, thank God for The CW.

Spoiler warning: For those of you who are interested, The CW did serve up an official teaser description for tonight’s new episode 19. It does contain light spoiler teasers. So, you’ll probably want to bail out of here, right now, if you don’t want to see any spoilers.

With that said, episode 19 is officially titled, “Immortal Kombat.” The CW’s official description for episode 19 reads like this, “Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) realizes that in order to stop Lex (guest star Jon Cryer) and Leviathan she must work with the one person she never thought she’d trust again, Lena (Katie McGrath).

Nia (Nicole Maines) keeps dreaming about Brainy (Jesse Rath) but struggles with what the dreams are trying to tell her. Meanwhile, Brainy realizes there is only one way to stop Lex.”

Episode 19 was directed by David Harewood. The story is by Derek Simon, and the teleplay was done by Emilio Ortego Aldrich & Nicki Holcomb.

Episode 19 is scheduled to air tonight, May 17, 2020 at approximately 8 pm central standard time on The CW, of course.
