American Idol April 24, 2022 Eliminated Dan Marshall, Allegra Miles & Ava Maybee (Recap)

Hey, “American Idol” fans. Tonight, April 24, 2022, another LIVE performance/results show for American Idol’s current season 20 did indeed air, and we found out who the top 11 singers are at the end.

All the judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were on hand to give their usual critiques and compliments. The singers were mentored by American Idol season 16 country star Gabby Barrett. The theme for tonight’s show was “Breakout Hits.”

To kick off tonight’s performances, Jay Copeland hit the stage to sing, “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars. Afterwards, Lionel said, “It’s amazing. You are showing up on stage, singing songs you should sing.” Katy said, “I like that you took Gabby’s advice and landed in a cool spot.” Luke said, “It’s important you let America know who you are.”

HunterGirl performed “Baby Girl” by Sugarland. Afterwards, Katy said, “I want Hunter to win. You have a heart of gold. I’d be so happy if you won this competition.” Luke said, “This is your best moment.” Lionel said, “You look like money. Like an old pro.”

Christian Guardino sang, “Take me to Church” by Hozier. Afterwards, Luke said, “Your voice is solid.” Lionel said,”You were on fire. I agreed with Gabby’s advice, and you followed it.” Katy said, “I think you pick really cool songs.”

Dan Marshall belted out, “She’s Got it All” by Kenny Chesney. Afterwards, Lionel said, “You actually walked out on stage and owned the song. You sounded like a star.” Katy said, “I really liked your song choice. It was fun if you were singing at the bar, but you need to aim for being more of a pro.” Luke said, “I liked your song choice. I noticed that you freaked out a little bit at the beginning. Even if you try to loosen up, you need to pay attention to vocals.”

Leah Marlene sang, “Happy Together” by the Turtles. Afterwards, Katy said,”The show has finally started.” Luke said, “I love watching you grow. It was emotional and inspiring. What a masterful moment from top to bottom.” Lionel said, “You took a Turtle song and turned it into your song.”

Fritz Hager performed, “Let it Go” by James Bay. Afterwards, Luke said, “You’re an artist.” Lionel said, “You gave us some Fritz grease, and it was wonderful.” Katy said, “I can’t play favorites, but you can see it in my eye.”

Tristen Gressett sang “Whataya Want from Me” by Adam Lambert. Afterwards, Lionel said, “It was fabulous.” Katy said, “I love that Tristen brings the drama every night.” Luke said, “You battled your way through the whole performance.” At the end, Tristen actually received a special message from Adam Lambert. So, that was pretty cool.

Lady K sang,”I Believe” by Fantasia. Afterwards, Katy said, “You’re elegance personified.” Luke said, “You’re an evolution.” Lionel said, “This is your best performance to date.”

Allegra Miles sang “Ocean Eyes” by Billie Eilish. Afterwards, Luke said, “That is why we saved you.” Lionel said, “I love how you got up from the piano halfway through the song and worked the stage.” Katy said, “I think you are incredibly talented.”

Ava Maybee performed, “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles. Afterwards, Lionel said, “You need to get out of her head, but the second half was on fire.” Katy said, “People are talking about how cool Ava is and texting me about it.” Luke said, “It was great.”

Mike Parker sang, “Hurricane” by Luke Combs. Afterwards, Katy said, “You made that stage yours. You were sangin.” Luke said, “You’re a fighter. Way to show up.” Lionel said, “That is the way you are supposed to be. You’re storytelling.”

Emyrson Flora performed, “Driver’s License” by Olivia Rodrigo. Afterwards, Luke said, “That was a great song choice. Timeless and classic.” Lionel said, “You have an old settled cry in your voice.” Katy said, “That cry in your voice is your special sauce. It holds the room.”

Noah Thompson sang, “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King. Afterwards, Lionel said, “Gabby gave you a gift, suggesting a new song. Pick songs that you feel,” Katy said, “You’re staying true to yourself even when you flip songs. My housekeeper is voting for you.” Luke said, “You’re voice is just so real. It’s simple. Just get up and sing the way you sing.”

To close out tonight’s performances, Nicolina Bozzo performed, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Afterwards, Katy said, “It was like watching an angel sing. What a tribute.” Luke said, “I really admire your vocal control. It’s a God-given talent.” Lionel said, “Your natural gift is pure and beyond your years.”

After all of that, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that Leah Marlene, HunterGirl, Jay Copeland, Fritz Hager, Nicolina Bozzo, Noah Thompson, Christian Guardino, Lady K, Emyrson Flora, Mike Parker and Tristen Gresette were safe this week and advanced to the top 11!

very disappointed that Dan Marshall was eliminated – he was a favorite of ours. With his voice, he will be singing still and we wish him the best.
